Vikings Grab Another UFL Player, Defensive End Adrian Awasom

Stay connected for news and updates

The last guy that the Vikings grabbed from the UFL, kick returner/running back Lorenzo Booker, seems to have worked out so well that the Vikings are going back to the UFL well for another drink.

The Vikings have signed defensive end Adrian Awasom to a two-year futures contract, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis.

Awasom, a native of Cameroon, is a 6'5", 280-pound defensive end that played last season for the Las Vegas Locomotives. He was actually a fifth-round pick of the New York Giants out of North Texas in 2005, and appeared in 17 games over three seasons for the Giants, registering 12 tackles and a sack. He was also sent home from Super Bowl XLII two days before the game because of a DUI arrest, and hasn't played in the NFL since.

Well, you can't spell "awesome" without "Awasom." Mostly, anyway. If the Vikings think the guy has talent, there's nothing wrong with trying to take a flier on him.
