Round 2

Well, that sure was a "Wild" Card round, eh?  I only predicted one team (the Ravens) correctly to advance to the Divisional Round next weekend.

Time to regroup and look at Round 2 of the playoff tournament...

Jets at Patriots:

The Colts didn't have the manpower to attack a tough Jets defense.  New England has a whole team full of playmakers.

Ravens at Steelers:

<a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34919/joe-flacco'>Joe Flacco</a> Running back <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34930/ray-rice'>Ray Rice</a> #27 of the <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/baltimore-ravens'>Baltimore Ravens</a> get a hand off from quarterback Joe Flacco #5 during their game against the <a class='sbn-auto-link' href='http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/carolina-panthers'>Carolina Panthers</a> at Bank of America Stadium on August 29, 2009 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I know I should never bet against the Steelers (especially their defense) come playoff season, but I see the Ravens pulling the upset here.  If Flacco doesn't make mistakes and keeps checking the ball to Ray Rice in between shots downfield to Heap, Boldin, and Mason, I see them advancing to their league championship.

Seahawks at Bears:

If the Seahawks keeping pounding the rock with Lynch they might have a shot in this one, but they won't be able to expose a soft secondary like they did with New Orleans.  Provided Cutler doesn't completely melt down (which is always very possible), I see the Bears advancing.

Packers at Falcons:

This one is tough to predict.  I'll take Atlanta, due to Matty Ice playing at home and the fact that Green Bay's inconsistent (and sometimes nonexistent) running game will come back to bite them eventually.

I highly doubt

That anyone beats the Patriots this year at all. I threw a roll of Charmin at my TV on Vicks INT in the fourth, and (I watched him closely today) not resigning Birk was was of the most foolish maneuvers in Vikings history. Pats vs. Falcons in SB XLV. Book it Dano!

not resigning Birk was was of the most foolish maneuvers in Vikings history

I couldn’t agree more. This was easily the biggest mistake last off-season, and the one that was most directly linked to the problems we had on offense in 2010. Chester was definitely missed, but not nearly as much as Matt. (Can we go back and fire Childress after 2009 and retain Birk?)

Birk left 2 years ago, and it wasn't that we didn't want him or try to re-sign him.

We actually offered him more money than Baltimore, but he left to get away from Brad Childress.

Ah crap...

you’re right. my bad. I don’t know why I had it in my head that he was still around last year. So can we go back to 2008 and fire Childress? I’d be cool with that too!

I don't think the Seahawks are going to beat the Bears either....

… but the Bears secondary is their soft spot. Chicago’s front 7 hides the weakness of their back 4. If you keep your QB upright you can beat Chicago through the air.

Seahawks have a "nothing to lose" attitude......

plus they beat them already in Chicago this season. Cutler is overdue for a meltdown as well. I don’t expect the Bears to lose either, but, didn’t expect the Seahawks to be the only home team to win this weekend either.

I don't think Lynch will be running against the Bears like he did against the Saints

I see the Saints having some serious issues at line backer right now.

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...

Here are my picks:

Patriots over Jets

Ravens over Steelers…..I really like Flacco. That Ravens D is playing as well as it can.

Seahawks just barely over Bears…..I just think they’ll be exceptionally confident after that win over the Saints. The key for them would be to get to Cutler. If they don’t pressure him enough, Bears will win.

Falcons over Packers…..Falcons at home and they have a strong enough ground game to negate that Packers pass-rush/secondary.

Pats over Jets

Steels over Ravs (D’s ofboth are equally good but QB is better on Steels)

Bears over Seahawks (Lovie will expose Hasselbeck)

Packers over Falcs (Good record for Falcs but I am not very impressed with them. They have had luck favor them in tight games so far but law of averages will catch up with them and the ball will start rolling the other way.

Asante Samuel is still a punk

And I am glad the eagles lost. If Rodger the dodger did not hate the Vikings so much this punk should have had a much lighter wallet and should be suspended for the first of next year. He continually leads with his helmet to the heads of other players, get rid of him now before he permanently hurts someone.

C'mon

You can do better than that for a “round 2” image. Let me help you out:

Good quality Viking stock there, too ;)

Oh yeah, and the football. I actually agree with all your picks.

p.s. on picks

although … though I would pick Bears to win … I am definitely pulling for Seahawks! Gotta root for the undrdodg. Especially when they are playing Da Bears, can’t root for them. Team of Destiny baby!

Picks

Jets over Pats - jets have a huge chip on their shoulder from the last time these two met and I cant stand Brady’s hair.

Steelers over Ravens - Palamalu (cant spell is name, you know the BIG HAIR guy) is going to be back and healthy I think he is the difference maker.

Pack over Falcons -- prolly just a fantasy here but I still hate the Falcons for what they did to us in ’98. yep even more than I hate the Pack right now(subject to change on how stupid Rodgers TD celebration is)

Bears over Hawks - Would like to pick the Hawks but they are not good enough to warrant that kind of faith.

Pretty much the same as others

Bears over Seattle: I don’t think Seattle is going to have teh run game against the Bears they did against the Saints and once their run is gone. Well bye bye Seahawks (plus they are my ex’s team)

New England TROUNCES the Jets. Yep beats them by 20, that’s my prediction for that.

Ravens over Pit in a tough tough game I see Rothlesberger getting injured in this game.

and that’s it! Oh wait the Pack vs the Falcons. Who cares don’t like either of those teams I wonder if they can both lose?

It's a lot easier to love the Vikings when they win...
