This week's Vikings victory over the Cardinals was, more than anything I think, a case of point & counterpoint.
Point:
-The defense played very well. Larry Fitzgerald was shut down, Jared Allen was a beast, and the turnovers were hot and heavy.

Counterpoint:
-The Arizona receivers couldn't have caught a cold in the Arctic. Kevin Kolb gift-wrapped a few of those turnovers.
Point:
-Adrian Peterson had a remarkable performance.

Counterpoint:
-The defensive turnovers (as discussed above) allowed for incredible field position.
Point:
-The team scored 34 points.

Counterpoint:
-Donovan McNabb looked absolutely terrible for all four quarters. The team (yet again) failed to score a TD in the second half of a game.
Point:
-The Vikings finally got a win, improving to 1-4 on the season.

Counterpoint:
-The Cardinals gave us the game as much as we took it from them.
I don't want to discount the performance of the defense, Allen, & Peterson in this game, but the win doesn't really prove anything that we didn't know already (the defense can have success when pressuring a QB). If anything, and this is where things really get screwy, the game probably (more than anything) proved to me that Donovan McNabb is not the QB for this team. I'm not a huge Joe Webb fan, so if Ponder is ready I wouldn't mind seeing him. If McNabb struggles even in the first half against the Bears, I wonder if Leslie Frazier's patience will run out with the aging (aged?) vet.
