MINNEAPOLIS (October 11, 2011) — Lingerie Football League, LLC and Minnesota Valkyrie officials have announced the hiring of former Minnesota Vikings great Everett Lindsay as the team’s head coach and defensive coordinator alongside co-head coach and offensive architect Tony Nguyen.
Lindsay will lead one of five Lingerie Football League expansion teams in 2011. Having already captured its first franchise win over the rival Green Bay Chill, 28-25, on August 26, the Valkyrie now set their sights on their nationally-televised home opener in Primetime on MTV2 this Friday, October 14, at Target Center versus the back-to-back Lingerie Bowl Champion Los Angeles Temptation.
"Minneapolis is obviously an incredible football town and LFL Football has gained tremendous momentum as a league, the Minnesota Valkyrie and the state of Minnesota will be the perfect marriage. With my love of the game, I would not have involved my name unless the LFL was a credible and compelling football product. I urge all Minnesota Viking fans to come rock the Target Center like we have for so many years the MetroDome. Your pre-conceptions of LFL Football will change at the first snap," said Lindsay, who played offensive guard for the Vikings between 1993-98 and 2001-03.
"Everett has obviously played the game very successfully at the highest level, more importantly, he has been an incredible coaching beacon to the Valkyrie since the formation of the franchise. We look forward to building the future of not only the Valkyrie but our great game with class individuals like Everett Lindsay and Tony Nguyen," said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
