Gil Brandt over at nfl.com has written an interesting article about "deals that should get done before deadline" and our very own Jared Allen is involved in a trade. Check it out:
It's certainly an interesting deal. Allen is approaching 30, his production will eventually start to dwindle and, at this moment in time, Allen would require a small ransom to encourage the Vikings to deal him.
But would it tempt you? I would have mixed feelings about this - Allen is a team leader, possible future Hall of Famer and a fan favourite.
However if such an approach was made - we could easily get at the very least a 1st round draft pick (but i can imagine a lot more on top of that), Griffen looks as though he could be an excellent DE for us. Not to mention 2 first round picks in 2012 would be very nice, plus whatever else we could get out of the trade.
Personally i would rather see Allen retire a Viking - but its certainly an interesting debate.....
