Full Injury Reports For Minnesota Vikings And Chicago Bears

It's Friday, and that means that the injury reports for both teams have been released, and there are some big ones for each team.

Since we generally do the visiting team first, let's start with the Vikings.

Minnesota Vikings Injuries

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Jared Allen eye 10/12/2011
Husain Abdullah pelvis 10/12/2011
Percy Harvin other-excused 10/14/2011

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
E.J. Henderson knee 10/12/2011
Kenny Onatolu hamstring 10/12/2011

Doubtful

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Antoine Winfield other-excused 10/14/2011

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Jasper Brinkley hip 09/03/2011

Yes, Antoine Winfield is still listed as doubtful with his neck injury, so it seems that the odds of him playing on Sunday night are pretty low. Granted, the Bears' pass offense isn't great or anything, but Winfield would have been nice to have in matching up with Matt Forte.

E.J. Henderson is still having an issue with his knee, but he'll play, although the number of snaps he'll see will likely be limited, much the way they were last week against Arizona. Nobody else listed on the injury report is a real risk to miss Sunday night's game.

The Bears' injury report is coming after the jump.

Chicago Bears Injuries

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Earl Bennett chest 10/13/2011
Corey Wootton hand 10/12/2011

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Chris Spencer hand 10/11/2011

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Julius Peppers knee 10/14/2011

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
J.T. Thomas knee 09/03/2011

Obviously, the big name on the list here is Peppers. The belief leading up to this one was that Peppers' knee injury would continue to get better throughout the week, and that he would be good to go by Sunday night. However, he didn't practice on Friday, and as you can see is now listed as doubtful. Now, granted, "doubtful" doesn't mean "out" by any stretch, but it looks as though things might be a little bit easier for the Minnesota offensive line on Sunday night at Soldier Field.

Putting Ponder in isn't the question, it's the answer.

Doubtful at least means...

… not at full strength by Sunday. We won’t have to deal with a 100% Peppers.

Couple of questions.

Who are we going to see fill in for EJ if he’s limited in use? Adibi, Dean, Onatolu? Or do we maybe move Erin inside and put EGriff on the outside?

oh, i would love to see everson griffin play olb sunday.

especially with their weak o-line, it could be a pass rushing fiesta with him blitzing against cutler.

Griffen at OLB?

Is he really fast enough to play outside for a full game? I thought that was a situational thing. Linebacker isn’t just a flat out speed position; a linebacker has to be able to change directions quickly, which is why they’re usually in the 240 to 250 lb range. Everson Griffen is listed at 273, which is a lot of weight to be nimble for a whole game. Despite Griffen’s good 40 time, he’d have difficulty playing 40 snaps at LB.

More likely they’ll play Xavier Adibi in EJ’s spot, with Griffen filling in for Erin Henderson in the usual situations.

I’d almost rather see Ryan D’Imperio play the middle than Griffen. D-Man played linebacker for Rutgers.

even with winfield out, i think the d-backs are going to step it up.

i thought they showed improvement last week, and this week we should be getting lotsa pressure on cutler, which should make life easier on them. how about 2 picks, 4 sacks and a couple of fines for late hits on the old chinless qb?

Great Idea medicineball!

Forte can be dangerous, and is a little bit underrated. And for gosh sakes kick the ball away from Hester!!!!

Hate to see Harvin on that list at all...

Are the headaches coming back?

Atleast Rupert will still make the ProBowl!

Same here

Unfortunately, everybody gets beat up in football. By the end of the season, most of these guys could spend a couple weeks in a hospital, just to heal up all the ankles, knees, toes, fingers, deep bruises, etc.

The amazing thing is how well wounded warriors like Percy Harvin play every Sunday. Nothing else is quite like it.

He's actually clear for the headaches.

It’s his rib that’s been bothering him since a couple of games back. But he’s doing well; Frazier listed him as optimistic he’ll play. Fun fact: Harvin has been migraine-free for 9 months now.
