How to hold a press conference

Bud Grant is generally regarded as the greatest coach in the rich history of the Minnesota Vikings. He is the only coach to ever take the Vikes to the Super Bowl, and his stoic demeanor, legendary. Leslie Frazier share's this trait of being very soft spoken, and his press conferences seem to lack a little bit of zing.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, we've had coaches who get very animated when dealing with the press. Among those was Dennis Green. Love him or hate him, in his first nine years Green never had a record worse than 8-8. And we all remember the Gary Anderson missed field goal game. I don't recall any one Viking press conference where he lost it, but most of us remember his rant when he coached the Arizona Cardinals:

The Bears are what we thought they were; they’re what we thought they were. We played them in preaseason — who the hell takes a third game of the preseason like it’s bull****, bull****!? We played them in the third game — everybody played three quarters — the Bears are who we thought they were! And that’s why we took the damn field. Now if you want to crown them, then crown their ass! But they are who we thought they were, and we let ‘em off the hook!

But maybe the most animated of any Viking head coach was Jerry Burns. Burns served as Minnesota's OC from 1968 to 1985, and as head coach for six years following that. But in this following clip (which is hilarious and follows a Vikings overtime victory over the Rams sometime in the late 80"s) we see a little bit more about the man. Do you suppose Frazier would ever defend Musgrave like this? Pretty sure not. I guarantee that if this press conference were held today, Roger Goodell would have a fit. - Note* This press conference is not intended for younger viewers.
