Today’s allegations against Chris Cook are very disturbing and disappointing. At this time, he is suspended without pay from the team while we continue to gather information regarding the situation. We will have no further comment until the appropriate time.

Wheres Cord Parks?
I also hope Sherels gets an extended look

i asked the same thing the other day
i liked Parks.
i think Sherels will eventually replace Winfield but will play primarily nickel (i don’t trust Asher). i really believe BBurton is an eventual starter at CB for us, but he has to get some reps.

Can I buy a vowel...?? +1, Kluwe.
This sounds about right
It is the right thing to do and maybe it will cause the commissioner not suspend more separately from this suspension.
It could free up a roster spot too while he is on suspension.
I think the Vikings left two spots open on the practice squad for a reason.
Guess the other side wasnt much better.
Glad to see they didnt sit back on this. Thank you Vikings

Well we have not heard the other side yet
not that we need to as the physical evidence is clear.
The Vikings really had no choice in this because of the public relations and the probable fact that the commissioner would have suspended him right away anyway. This makes the team look good by suspending him themselves. I think that the commissioner will not hand down any further suspension though. I could be wrong but I doubt it.
It would have looked very bad for the Vikings to let him play or even show up (I wonder if they are allowing him to come to meetings?).
I think this is about the most that they can do to him short of releasing him which I believe would be foolish from a football standpoint.
From a moral standpoint it would be good but as others have stated, KWill had a domestic violence issue before too. http://forums.projectcovo.com/showthread.php?t=627355
Reading the report of what happened with KWill it is hard to say what actually occurred in the argument. But KWill was arrested.
Nobody knows what went down but Cook and his girlfriend but he does have the right to tell his side of the story. He is guilty of physically hurting her and is now reaping what he has sown. He is going to lose over 100K for this incident and could be released.
I am not sure how much he would have to give back from his bonus but I do believe another team would give him another chance.
The Vikings should give him another chance too or at least hang onto him long enough to trade him.
The fact they are making him stay in the state, and stay away from her...
Trade him away, he cant go to another team unless they are coming to Minn to play. And baring them changing that, which I dont see happening being that they had to determine him to be a risk to leave the state….Hes not going anywhere until trial.
I know there are two sides, and the idiot ran that off his twitter as soon as he left jail. There are always two sides when someone beats the shit out of a woman. Sadly the other side is so twisted up and fugged in the head it doesnt make any sense.
I hope he doesnt set foot on a field in Minn for a long time if ever. Sorry i dont think you get to say im sorry for almost strangling the life out of you, can i have my millions back now.
You lost that right by being a complete douchebag.

Not arguing with you about the actual crime
As far as him being able to leave the state he could always petition the court to ask that he be allowed to travel for his job. I do not think he is a flight risk or they would not have let him out on bail.
They cannot trade him until next March at the earliest since the trade deadline is passed. You know that right? I assume you do so at least we agree that they should try and get something in return rather than just flat out releasing him.
But what about KWill? If you were paying attention back then would you have wanted him kicked off the team too?
I am hoping he can learn from this incident and that he never does it again. I hope that the victim gets some type of recompense.
I believe that a person should be given a chance to rehabilitate.
TBH i forgot the trade deadlines passed last week
I wasnt following the Viks in 05, i can admit that. Ive read on KWill’s thing since people have posted it and he basically got off with nothing. Mind you he had friends that were smart enough to pull him off from what I can read. Do i think thats ok that hes still making millions when hes done something like that, no, but i know im in the minority. I dont just forgive people based off the fact they can throw a ball or run fast.
Rehab wife beaters all you want, from personal experience it doesnt do much.

I'm in total agreement Jshore!

As much as I want to just flat-out cut him...
He will be picked up by another team immediately as he is only barred from leaving the state until his trial date. That could be 3 weeks or 3 months, but not long enough to prevent him from joining another team and being productive.
Us cutting him will not be a punishment, but suspending him without pay is.
Regardless, let’s wait until the trial before we rush to judgement.
