Which College Players Are Future Vikings? Week 8 Review and Week 9 Primer

Eight weeks into the college football season and the Vikings soap opera continues.

The marquee matchups last week for me were Stanford vs Washington and USC vs Notre Dame because of the players that could get drafted by the Vikings.

I was a little disappointed in the Stanford vs Washington game in that my boy Ta'amu did not really do much.  At the same time, Stanford just ran away from him and doubled him a few times. Mainly if he shaded to one side of the center they would run to the other side of the center and the center would just let him go guiding him out of the play.

David DeCastro looked very very good.  He is definitely the top guard prospect in the draft and is quickly becoming one of the top prospects in the draft.  He could go top 10 but it is not likely.  The last guard to get drafted very high was Leonard Davis in 2001.  Maybe you could say Robery Gallery too?  But both of these guys were tackles in college.

Decastro at #5 is probably too high for the Vikings but he is going to be an All Pro and probably multiple times.

I still like Ta'amu though.  I would still take him just not at #5.

In the USC vs Notre Dame game, there were some players that stood out.  Kalil just does what he always does and
that is pretty much handle whomever he is suppose to handle.  It is almost like he is not trying too hard.  My one complaint is that he is not nasty enough for me.  But he is going to be good.  He has all the symptoms.

Robert Woods and Michael Floyd were worth watching just by themsleves.  Unfortunately Floyd did not get many opportunites.

I liked Manti Te'o LB and Harrison Smith S from Notre Dame a lot.   Their TE Tyler Eifert was impressive too.

TJ McDonald, Christian Tupou, and Chris Galippo played well for USC.

After this Chris Cook incident and the fact that we do not know what will be the ultimate outcome, it could be the Vikings are looking for a CB in the first round.

I am going to list some prospects and highlight some that I like as future Vikings and then preview week 10 best matchups ...

Here is an after week eight mock with two compensatory picks.  I am hoping for one compensatory pick to be at the end of the third round and the other at the end of the seventh.

The Vikings are set to pick 5th according to this site  http://www.thehuddlereport.com/Free/draftorder.shtml

Also the Vikings traded their 6th round pick to Washington for McNabb. I am not sure if it is a 5th.  They also are set to receive New England's 7th round pick for the Moss trade and the Giant's probable 7th round pick for the Sage Rosenfels and Darius Reynauld trade and Cleveland's probable 6th round pick for the Jayme Mitchell trade.

So here goes a draft with a trade.

The Vikings trade the #5 overall pick (1700 points) to the Cleveland Browns for the #13 (1150 points), #45 (450 points), #109 (76 points), and a 2013 5th.

So here are my Vikings picks ...
