Fran Tarkenton: Vikings Need to Play Christian Ponder
The franchise's signature signal caller speaks...
"Players know. Who's going to be our future? Who can we build with? Maybe it's Christian Ponder. We won't know until he plays in games how he reacts. We desperately need that for the immediate future of our franchise."

Hey, isn't that the guy who said getting Favre in 09 was a bad idea?
I love Fran, but just saying.:p
Fran was right
If you think getting Favre was a good idea then i’m going to seriously consider disregarding all of your future posts. Brett Favre may have been the QB when the Vikings went to their most recent Conference Championship Game but everything else about him was a negative for our team. If you’ll notice, we’re in the exact same place we were last year…and the year before: an over the hill QB who cares more about himself than winning games. The only good thing that Favray did was facilitate the firing of Brad Childress. No true Viking fan can accept Brett Farve as a Viking!!
Fran was wrong..in 2009
That was a magical year and Favre was most of the reason for it. Hating Favre because he played for the Packers and ignoring what he did for the team that year is silly and short sighted. He is one of the best QBs of all time and I will forever remember 2009 as a season filled with wonderful memories as a Viking fan…I am as purple as they come bro..Brett Favre was a great Viking QB.
I agree...yet...
I agree. There is no logical reason not to like Brett Favray, yet…I don’t. I’ll never get past his past. However, to give him credit for that season is a reach. We have, essentially, the same defense this year that we had that year. We had AP, a slightly better O-line, and definitely better wideouts. No question Favre’s season was magical (no one ever thought he’d throw only 7 picks in one season), but I still wouldn’t invite him to a cookout.
How can you not love a hall of famer talking with words like "our" and "we".
When Fran speaks we should listen. He was not far off on Favre. It was a bad idea in the end. And the next time anyone want to type, “just saying”, just don’t.
