Arizona Cardinals At Minnesota Vikings - Fourth Quarter Open Thread
Big sequence at the end of the third quarter, as the Arizona Cardinals went for it on fourth and 1 in their own territory, allowing the Vikings to take over at the Arizona 47 on the first play of the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals did get into the end zone to cut the deficit to 28-10, but the Vikings answered back thanks to a pass from Donovan McNabb to Devin Aromashodu for 60 yards. That put them into position for a field goal from Ryan Longwell, putting the Vikings ahead by three touchdowns again.
The field goal was Longwell's eighth of the year in 8 attempts, and he has hit 94 of his last 98 field goal attempts from 45 yards or less. He has also hit 16 in a row going back to last season.
As we start the fourth quarter, the Minnesota Vikings have a 31-10 lead over the Arizona Cardinals. Join us for the fourth quarter of play right here!

I've been supporting McNabb for these first 5 weeks
but I’m going to have to join the rest of you haters, I think it’s time to pull him in favor of Webb or Ponder.
His throws are bad, there has to be something wrong with his hand or wrist or arm, all those years in Philly he never threw this bad, there’s gotta be something wrong with him.

The cloud on the silver lining:
We have been outscored 10-6 since the first quarter.
We are not where we need to be.

Honestly what has McTurf done today that ponder/webb couldn't have done better
by PURPpplEATER on Oct 9, 2011 3:02 PM CDT reply actions 1 recs
McTruf showed the ability to completely miss open receivers
Ponder or Webb would have tried to complete those passes

Sanford nearly had his second pick
Something named Richard Bartel in at quarterback for the Cardinals.

So if we assume Miami or Indy wins the Luck sweepstakes....
Who should we target (assuming we keep sucking and get a top 5 pick)?
Depends on
In my mind, there’s a “smart pick” and a “sexy pick.”
The smart pick would be Matt Kalil. The sexy pick (i.e. the pick to get the fans excited because they can watch his highlight reels) would be Alshon Jeffery.

I say offensive line first
because a great WR isn’t going to help the offensive line play better, but an improved line could help the receivers do better. Plus, young, starting caliber linemen are rarely available in free agency, but there are usually a few good WR’s to go after.

O-Line
Kalil seems pretty damn good. We need O-line to help Ponder develop but even more so to give Peterson running lanes.
the games were never out reach for us
Who said life was fair?

The only problem with having a Defense/Run based team
is that we get wiped against truly great passing games because they can catch up in one long bomb. Or get ahead just as quickly. Our grind-it-out monsters of the midway style isn’t helpful against truly elite offenses. :(
DAMNIT....my fantasy team NEEDED that TD
Putting Ponder in isn't the question, it's the answer.
SKOL!!!
Sanford again!
I said Sanford, son!
And, with that, Jamarca Sanford has as many catches this year as Bernard Berrian.

It's the Victory formation.
McNabb deserves something before his season ending injury

I have a feeling A-Rod is gonna cream my hometown team again tonight
If T-Jack of all people can,god knows what A-Rod can do
This was MUCH needed...
Devin A. has far and away knocked Berrian out of the lineup (in my eyes anyway) and Tyrell Johnson should never play another down as a Viking again because Sanford is FAR better. We needed this guys, SKOL!!
God dang
I don’t know who this Victor Cruz guy from the Giants is or where he came from, but he’s freaking ridiculous.

A win is a win...
… even more so knowing that Berrian didn’t play. Now all we need is for Ponder or Webb to show Frasier that they are at least as good as McNabb now and I will be a happy bunny. The long pass over the middle was awful… yes it got there… but it was a s l o w delivery that another team would have picked off. The total lack of sight when Harvin was standing in the endzone is simply inexcusable, and the… erm… I think it was a pass in the 4th quarter which barely went 10 yards before hitting the floor was terrible. McNabb should be allowed to find another team for the rest of the season, and possibly of his starting career.

goddamit, we could have had andrew luck....kc just beat indy too.
warcraft, you are my guitar hero !!!
Suck for Luck race getting very crowded today
lots of 1-3 teams fell to 1-4, joining the Vikings
t-suck injured his right shoulder in the 3rd quarter, whitehurst came in and won the game
warcraft, you are my guitar hero !!!
Great that we won
But when are we going to start ponder. McNabb cant get the job done. He is so inaccurate.
miami and indy have inside track to the andrew luck sweepstakes now.
warcraft, you are my guitar hero !!!
Interesting stat
Kevin Kolb had 9 passed knocked down today, not counting the INT’s
3 were by the d-line
He’s terrible.
Well
Congrats, guys. That first quarter was extremely impressive, to say the least.
I love Donald Driver. AND RANDALL COBB!
Jay Cutler, the first quarterback to beat a playoff team with a losing record.
Didn't see the game, only highlights
but it seemed like this to me:
It took Frazier five games to figure out that keeping the ball out of McNabb’s hands and IN Peterson’s hands was a good idea.
The Cardinals can’t tackle for sh#t. AP is a beast and all that, but the Cards looked pretty terrible.
Kolb had a terrible game, and he’s having a terrible year. But he’s still miles better than McNabb, who can’t seem to get a 200 yard game to save his life (or our season).
McNabb sucks and this win should not stop the Webb or Ponder talk…in the least.
We won is spite of McNabb, not because of him. So tell me why he’s STILL starting!?
And for good measure: MCNABB SUCKS!!!!
