The Vikings and their lack of primetime success

I've read several articles regarding the Vikings horrible primetime record.  In fact, over their last 12 primetime games, they are 2-10 with one win from 2009 (Favre's return in Lambeau) and one win in 2010 (the snow delayed game in Philly.

The 12-4 2009 team was 1-3 in primetime.

But upon closer look, our QBs were as follows:

TJack
Gus Frerrotte
Good Brett
Bad Brett
Joe Webb
Donovan McNabb

Not exactly a great group of names (unless you were talking Brett and Donovan a few years ago)

But everything i read about Ponder says this kid is not scared of anything, including a trip to Lambeau.

How do you think we'll fare in future primetime games w/ Ponder under center?

Ponder will need some help but should hopefully do better than our recent record.

If memory serves me in 2009 we swept Green Bay and both games were prime-time… Sunday night and Monday night, I believe.

November 1 game @ green bay

was an afternoon game at 3:15 central

when asked by Dan Patrick if his name alluded to not making quick decisions in the pocket, Ponder calmly replied "As crazy as it sounds, my mom's maiden name is actually Superbowlwinner. All one word"

Not that it’s a huge excuse, but take a look and see how many of the12 primetime games were Home games and how many were Away…

I think it will be quite one-sided…

The point spread against the Vikings is the largest of all the games.

They have the Pack beating the Vikes by 13 1/2 points. I don’t know if that will happen, but I am soooooooooooooooooooooo pissed off because I have to be on a plane flying to the east coast and I will miss most of the game. I was really looking forward to the three B’s, Brats, Beer and Bets. This may be the the most watched game of the year for the Vikings and could propel Ponder into the franchise quarterback category.

Oh well, root hard for the boys. I will try to check in late with the thread for the upset celebration.

If the Vikings are able to succeed JethroBo

Thanks abba7

Hey, how did you know the wife loves roses? Is there something going on here that I don’t know about? :)

After the Vikings did pretty well against the Packers, I’m not sure what the 13 1/2 point margin is all about. I assume it’s that home field advantage.

How do you score a half a point anyway?

b/c i don't know if you're being serious

the half point is only there so there is no ‘push’

when asked by Dan Patrick if his name alluded to not making quick decisions in the pocket, Ponder calmly replied "As crazy as it sounds, my mom's maiden name is actually Superbowlwinner. All one word"

You're forgetting one

Toward the end of 2008 we crushed the Bears in prime time. That was when Berrian had his 99 yard TD and basically was the game that gave us control of the division.

This is not about us "choking"

Generally, the competition is tougher when it’s a primetime matchup, thus, a lower winning %. I’d be willing to bet that damn near every team in the NFL has a losing record in primetime.

That was the point I was about to make.... too bad you made it already.

Saying we have a lack of primetime success is like saying we are not very good at beating really good teams.
