so Desean Jackson was benched Sunday, apparently because of his attitude throughout the season, missing meetings, complaining about his contract, et al.
from the looks of it, Philly may be parting ways with DJax, who is a free agent at the end of this season -- Philly's FO "won" his preseason holdout; and according to an article i just read, there was a deadline last Monday that, had they signed an extension prior to it, would have allowed a portion of his contract to be applied to this year's salary cap. and clearly, there is bitterness on both sides.
in other words, DJax may test the FA market.
which begs the question... should the Vikes consider themselves suitors...??
i'm a bit torn -- as much as i don't like Jackson's potential of being a locker room cancer, pairing him alongside Percy would make for an unbelievable WR corps. likewise, pursuing DJax would solve a huge whole at WR, thus allowing us to use our top draft picks on other areas of need. cutting some more dead weight in the offseason to free up some cap space could put us in a very good position to land Jackson via free agency.
of course, i think there's better than a 50% chance Philly and DeSean will "make up" after all is said and done, and come to an agreement before the FA market opens. but at this point, it's at least fun to speculate.
what say you??
