Sapp is back...
It's official. Benny Sapp is back for better or for worse.
I like the move but this isn't going to fix our secondary problems. We'll need to fix the problem via the draft or FA next year..
"Words can’t describe how happy I am to have him here and have him back," safety Jamarca Sanford said. "He was one of my best friends before he left. It hurt me when he left. To have him back, it’s perfect. He’s a guy who brings excitement and just brings energy and fun to the team.
What do you all think?

At least
Its a familiar face. I never kept track of him much back then, but he won’t amke this secondary any worse then it already was.

He was a pretty good nickle back.
Which means he’ll be starting next to Asher Allen another decent nickle back.

rec'd ya for that one
I have been too uptight since monday. Time to make some jokes about our team to lighten the mood!

Meh, I guess if this is simply to add a warm body to the secondary, I get it.
At 2-7 with a rookie QB and buried in the division, though, well, tis the season for seeing what you’ve got with the young players. If Sapp takes snaps away from guys like Allen (who’s actually looking a little better), Sherrels, or Burton at this point, then I have to question the logic. (Or, if they’ve seen enough of Sherrels or Burton to determine they simply can’t be on the field, even for a 2-7 team, then we have to again question the front office.)
We’ll see. I can’t shake the feeling this organization—Wilf, Spielman, Frazier—would rather chase 5 or 6 wins with marginal vets than build something more sustainable.
The Sapp is Back!
Sanford is spot on! And love watching the guy play, and frankly, I don’t much care about the penalties he draws. It’s not like this was going to be a winning season, having someone in the secondary who can make receivers double-check around themselves before catching the ball, lest they catch a Sapp-Missile, is awesome!
But Jainfu is also right; we need to get our new guys lots of play time in. They sure as hell aren’t going to get a lot of practice otherwise.

SKOL!
I was disappointed in the trade because I liked Benny.
Cammy grew up on me though. But come on guys..we are talking about a guy who got cut from Miami because of his bad play!
Even better, tho, to have both Cammy AND Sapp :)
Personally, I like them both.
A guy doesn’t always get cut because he can’t play, sometimes he’s not fitting in with the scheme, or there’s money issues, or there’s just better players at that position on the squad. We don’t have any of those problems where Sapp is concerned. Sadly.

That makes sense. Thanks DC.
It does feel like Benny is back home. Hope he feels the same way and we see better play from him and Sanford.
