Which College Players Are Future Vikings? Week 9 Review and Week 10 Primer

Another week of college football has passed. Who stood out?

The marquee matchups last week for me were Stanford vs USC, Michigan State #11 vs Nebraska #14, and Oklahoma #9 vs Kansas State #8.

The only game that was good was Stanford vs USC. The other two were blowouts.

A special Hail Mary goes out to Wisconsin who in the period of two weeks went from likely BCS bowl consideration to a possible Outback or Cotton Bowl. They need Penn St to drop a game before they play them in the last game of the year.

I watched Stanford vs USC, Arizona vs Washington, some of Texas A&M vs Missouri, and various parts of other games all mixed in with what seemed like an inordinate amount of Scooby Doo. How did that happen?

I think that all the players projected for the draft showed up ready to play in the Stanford vs USC game. Matt Kalil, Matt Barkley, TJ McDonald, Christian Tupou, Robert Woods, Andrew Luck, Jonathan Martin, David DeCastro, Cony Fleener, and unfortunately for him, Chris Owusu, who got the wood again!

This game did not disappoint if you were looking for some prospects. TJ McDonald is definitely going into my final mock if he comes out.

I watched the Arizona vs Washington game to see my boy Alameda Ta'amu and I thought he did well. I think he needs to improve in some areas but he does not get pushed around at all. Maybe once or twice a game a player will get him but the rest of the time he is collapsing the pocket and then he gives chase on almost every play which is nice to see from a 330 lb DT.

Chris Polk was sensational scoring five TDs. A couple of nice WRs in Jermaine Kearse and Juron Criner. At least they are nice on the collegiate level. I liked Robert Golden too. He played corner in high school and some at Arizona but played safety last year and is playing there this year too. He is a guy I hope the Vikings can pick up in round 5 or later. But I may have to move him up.

I think that Nick Foles would be an interesting QB to bring in and develop as the #3 and eventually move to #2 depending on what happens to Webb. Washington also has a very nice left tackle who projects to a guard in Senio Kelemete 6-3 302 5.23. He played DT in 2008 and then switched to right guard and started there all of 2009. Now he is playing left tackle. I like his athleticism and overall play.

I was disappointed in Jeff Fuller WR from Texas A&M. I do not know what was going on but it seemed like Tannehill just did not even look for him too often. Maybe he was doubled? And then Coryell Judie did not play again. I did like Dominique Hamilton DT 6-5 305 5.24 from Missouri. He could be an UDFA or late seventh round pick.

I am going to list some prospects and highlight some that I like as future Vikings and then preview week 10 best matchups ...

Here is an after week eight mock with two compensatory picks. I am hoping for one compensatory pick to be at the end of the third round and the other at the end of the seventh.

The Vikings are set to pick 8th according to this site http://www.thehuddlereport.com/Free/draftorder.shtml but I think they are wrong and the Vikings are at #7 this week because they have 6 losses and the Seahawks have 5 losses.

Also the Vikings traded their 6th round pick to Washington for McNabb. I am not sure if it is a 5th. They also are set to receive New England's 7th round pick for the Moss trade, the Giant's probable 7th round pick for the Sage Rosenfels & Darius Reynauld trade, and Cleveland's probable 6th round pick for the Jayme Mitchell trade.

So here goes a draft with a few trades.

The Vikings trade the #7 overall pick (1500 points) to the Philadephia Eagles for the #11 (1250 points), the #75 (215 points), & the #144 pick (36.5 points).

The Vikings trade the #11 overall pick (1250 points) and a conditional 2013 4th round pick to the New England Patriots for Matt Light, the #23 (760 points), the #52 (380 points), & the #121 pick (56 points).

The Vikings trade the #181 pick (22.6 points) & the #214 pick (11.4 points) to the Atlanta Falcons for the #148 pick (34 points).

So here are my Vikings picks ...
