Which College Players Are Future Vikings? Week 10 Review and Week 11 Primer

Ten weeks have passed and it is pretty clear who the top players are at each position.  Obviously the post season stuff will add more to scouting reports for teams to consider.  But there are some big games left in which some players can rise up draft boards by stepping up when the lights are the brightest.

LSU vs Alabama was definitely an offensive struggle as both offenses were struggling mightily against the defenses.

There are quite a few players that looked pretty good and are going in the first two rounds.  For Alabama, you have Trent RichardsonDre Kirkpatrick, DJ Fluker (if he comes out), Don'ta Hightower, Courtney Upshaw, Mark Barron, Robert Lester, and Josh Chapman all probably going in the first 3 rounds easily.  For LSU you have Morris Claiborne as the only player that is likely to go in the first 3 rounds.  Maybe Reuben Randle WR?

Still, if the Vikings managed to come out of the first 3 rounds with Dre Kirkpatrick and Mark Barron they would be doing pretty good.  That would help out the secondary a lot.  Unfortunately the Vikings need a left tackle badly.  Really badly IMHO.

Oklahoma State vs Kansas State was the exact opposite of Alabama vs LSI in that it was a defensive struggle.  Both defenses were struggling mightily.  But it was a good game and Justin Blackmon sure played very well as he has all season.  I do not know if he is going to be that good in the NFL but I think he will succeed because of his size and strength.  I just worry about his speed a little.  Just a little though.

I caught some of the South Carolina vs Arkansas game.  That was good and Arkansas appears to be legit.  I still like Jarius Wright.  It is hard to tell with Alshon Jeffery since the QB situation has not been too good.  I would pass on him though.  I would take Blackmon or Dwight Jones or Mohamed Sanu.

I have a few players I have been trying to watch that I think could be late round picks.  Jordan White from Western Michigan who is leading the country in receptions, yards, and tied with Blackmon for TDs.  Matt Daniels SS from Duke.  He is playing very well.  I still need to see Danny Trevathan LB from Kentucky, and Miles Burris LB from San Diego State.  Also, Mike Martin DT from Michigan is intriguing.

I am going to list some prospects and highlight some that I like as future Vikings and then preview week 10 best matchups ...

Here is an after week eight mock with two compensatory picks.  I am hoping for one compensatory pick to be at the end of the third round and the other at the end of the seventh.

The Vikings are set to pick 8th according to this site  http://www.thehuddlereport.com/Free/draftorder.shtml but I think they are at #7 because Seattle only has 5 losses whereas the Vikings have 6.

Also the Vikings traded their 6th round pick to Washington for McNabb. I am not sure if it is a 5th.  They also are set to receive New England's 7th round pick for the Moss trade, the Giant's probable 7th round pick for the Sage Rosenfels & Darius Reynauld trade, and Cleveland's probable 6th round pick for the Jayme Mitchell trade.

So here goes a draft with just one trade.

The Vikings trade the #7 overall pick (1500 points) to the Cincinnati Bengals for the #20 (850 points), the #26 (700 points), & the #156 pick (29.8 points).
Now some may say that Cincinnati is giving up too much but if they really want Trent Richardson (and they do) then they have to give up more to get who they want.

So here are my Vikings picks ...
