Tebow, Ponder and others--4th quarter passer rating
4th quarter passer rating in my opinion is a huge determinant to indicate which quarterback has the best potential to win games when "the game is on the line" or in reverse to prove that pressure of performing in the 4th quarter "is not too big for that quarterback."
With that in mind any quarterback passer rating under 75 is below average, 75-90 average, 90-100 good and over 100 excellent. With that in mind here are the rankings of the 2011 starting quarterbacks as of week 12:
EXCELLENT:
E. MANNING------------------123.7
RODGERS--------------------113.0
BRADY-------------------------108.4
TEBOW------------------------107.8
J CAMPBELL------------------104.1
GOOD:
STAFFORD-------------------98.6
ROMO-------------------------96.9
SANCHEZ--------------------93.8
A SMITH---------------------91.6
BREES----------------------91.2
AVERAGE:
FLACCO-------------------87.3
FITZPATRICK------------86.5
FREEMAN----------------84.3
MCCOY------------------84.0
HASSELBECK---------81.9
RYAN-------------------79.1
GROSSMAN----------78.4
PONDER--------------78.4
T JACKSON----------78.1
NEWTON-------------76.1
BELOW AVERAGE:
VICK-------------------73.6
RIVERS--------------73.5
ROETHLISBERG---72.4
KOLB----------------72.0
BRADFORD--------71.8
GABBERT----------70.1
SCHAUB------------69.2
CASSELL-----------65.2
CUTLER------------60.5
MOORE------------60.3
DALTON-----------58.4
PAINTER-----------45.5
C PALMER--------34.8
Bottom line: Tim Tebow is clutch when he needs to be while many quarterbacks need to be ahead going into the 4th quarter for their teams to be assured of winning or at least to have a decent chance of prevailing.

what he said?
"Like I said, I don’t think anybody on this team knows what schism is, let alone could use it in a sentence. I thought it was an STD when I first heard it. And I was like whoa, we preach abstinence around these parts." - Jared Allen
Tim Tebow vs Vince Young
2011 season:
Tim Tebow: 6 and 1/2 games: 1 interception
Vince Young: 3 starts: 9 interceptions
Both are good runners but that is where the comparison ends.
I take it
You don’t know what sample size is?
Exactly. These numbers do not make sence due to the fact that Tebow only throws MAYBE four completions in the fourth/game compared to 15 or so by Manning and Rodgers.

Agreed with you guys.
That’s why I don’t think stats always tell the truth.
But ok, Tebow is improving clearly… and attempting more passes (and completing) each games. And I hope he can give us a sample big enough to make a fair compare and still be on top =)

see with this stat, how many teams are
Running to kill the clock, and just passing when needed to pick up the first (to kill the clock) vs trying to catch up and win the game?

From the NFL
These numbers are from the NFL situational stats for each QB in 2011.
If you don’t know passer rating in general is determined from 4 variables:
a) Completion percentage
b) Yards per attempts
c) Touchdown per attempt
d) Interceptions per attempt
The NFL isolates the 4th down performance using these variables to figure out the passer rating. In other words if a QB can throw timely TD’s and not throw picks in the 4th quarter the likelihood of a higher 4th quarter passer rating is very good. But if a QB under pressure is not able to perform (not throw TD passes or eschew throwing picks) then his 4th quarter passer rating will not be very good.
By the way one stat I did not include:
Kyle Orton: 70.1%
Obviously you can see why the Broncos are 5-1 under Tebow and 1-4 this season under Orton.
The W stats should tell us something, indeed.

Why not, my friend?
Actually he is a passer… ugly or not, he is.

Ok mate obviously you meant to post this over at Mile High
That’s cool if you wander to the schedule tab up top you can see the little star next to Denver Broncos hit that and it will take you there.
Now to chat about your remarkable findings. Well honestly I don’t really care about them, add to that the fact that you just make random comments about Young and the NFL? I’m a bit confused and honestly it doesn’t really help make people respect your argument.
Good luck!

I think Tebows
A great football player and he’s a winner. But whats funny is people talk about how great he is in the fourth and how he wills his team back, if he was halfway decent in the first 3 quarters he wouldn’t have to be great in the fourth.!
Ponder to Harvin for 6!

Key baseball stat
In baseball they keep track of a hitter’s stats on how successful he is in driving home base runners.
Why? It is one thing to hit a line drive to get on first base without anyone previously on second or third base but it is entirely a different matter to hit the ball towards the outfield to send your teammates home when the game is on the line.
in the game against the panthers
He had a 102.7 passer rating (ponder)

And you guys almost made it!
I watched that game, it was a great one (and very surprising for me)! After that game I knew you are not a bad football team and your season record doesn’t match the truth.

Huh?
I thought we beat panthers…I’m confused
Miss-read
I thought I had read “packers” instead of “panthers”. My bad, spoo.
