Plucking from other teams' Practice Squads...

I'm curious if anyone else thinks we should be looking at other teams' practice squads for players who could possibly contribute next season. Certainly we have a lot of needs, but there is only so much we can do in the draft.

I have one question, as well as a player suggestion to start off the discussion:

Question

I know once a player is signed off of a practice squad, he must be on a roster for three weeks -- but how does this work at the end of the season?? In other words, if we signed a player off of a PS, say, Wk 16, is the three week period (at that point) merely a means of compensation for the player?? Or is there a cut-off point for signing players off PS's if a team's season will come to an end prior to the end of said three week period?? (I hope that made sense -- basically I want to know because our season is done in three weeks, and if it is technically legit to sign and essentially 'reserve' another team's PS player for next season.)

Suggestion

Quan Sturdivant, MLB (Arizona Cardinals PS)

I think EJ's days in MN are numbered -- he is great against the run, but a huge liability in coverage. Per another thread, it seems Jasper Brinkley's coverage skills lie somewhere between unknown and not-so-good. This draft isn't entirely promising for MLB candidates (unless you want to spend a 1st rd pick, which we all know needs to be used on more important priorities) -- which led me to Sturdivant. If memory serves he is a bit raw, but with excellent speed and good in coverage -- which we desperately need at MLB in our Tampa-2 scheme.

What are your thoughts on the question; Sturdivant; and do you have your own suggestions for other teams' practice squad players worth pursuing??
