A Perfect Song for this Off-season!

All the talks of the mixtapes and what not I find this song to fit this team soooooo much this off-season. In the first part it is by a band that sole lyrical content is Viking Lore, that helps a bit. But, we are in desperate, desperate need of many new Vikings next year. The song is aptly names "The Pursuit of Vikings." Check out the posted lyrics after the break and I will give my break down of their significance and symbolism to this off-season and would love your input as well!

I will also post a a link to a youtube video, it's not great quality video but you will see just how dedicated these Fjordies (that's a word right, OK we will just call them Scandinavian) are to the look and quite frankly the sound of a Viking battle song. They are Groove/Death Metal so if that kind of music is something you have no desire to partake in just skip the video but I love these guys! Also, I would like to throw my idea out there to call the new stadium (if it get's built) Asgard Stadium, that would kick ass! Anywho, without further adieu here are the lyrics.

The Pursuit Of Vikings lyrics
By: Amon Amarth

The warming sun returns again
And melts away the snow
The sea is freed from icy chains
Winter is letting go (this stanza signifies to me a new season, a new beginning on a saga and we get to do that soon when this season ends and we hit FA and the Draft)

Standing on the ocean side
We can hear the waves
Calling us out with tide
To sail into our fate (This is closer to the draft and FA, we are standing on the cusp of our future season to come and we are about to embark on what our future is to be)

Oden! Guide our ships
Our axes, spears and swords
Guide us through storms that whip
And in brutal war (This stanza is the refrain/chorus of the song it is a call to the Gods and in our case our front office and they guide our ship in which direction it will go)

Our ships await us by the shore
Time has come to leave
Our country, family and homes
For riches in the east (This is game time, this is fall camp leading into the 2012 season)

Some of us won't return
But that won't bring us down
Our fate is written in the web
Woven by the Norns (There will be casualties of war, they may be injuries or a love boat or... we never know but we know with the Vikes it's inevitable. Though I like the idea of being in a position that it won't get us down we will go on and be victorious)

A ram is sacrificed
Across the longship's bow
And as we set our sails
A strong breeze starts to blow (This one really doesn't take much explanation, we will take a member of the Ram's organization and gut them on the bow of that ship at the practice facility before the season starts duh!)

It carries us out to sea
With hope of fame and pride
And glorious all will be
That with sword in hand will die (This is battle time out at see and will fight to the death for glory and pride and in our case for that championship ring in the Vikes case)

Oden! Guide our ships
Our Axes, spears and swords
Guide us through storms that whip
And in brutal war

Oden! Guide our ships
Our axes, spears and swords
Guide us through storms that whip
And in brutal war
