Week 16 Late Games Discussion Thread

There will be a recap of the Vikings 33-26 win over the Washington Redskins here momentarily, but in the meantime, feel free to use this area to discuss the late NFL action, as well as any of the other games that have taken place in Week 16 so far.

Apparently there was a fight in Detroit while the players were running out of the tunnel. (The Lions, involved in something potentially dirty? Why, I never.)

We're still trying to get more on the injuries to Adrian Peterson and Christian Ponder, among other things, and we're certainly going to have a lot to discuss. We have no Sunday night game this evening, so after this afternoon's games are over, you're going to have to, like, spend time with your families and stuff like that.

But, there is still plenty of NFL action going on, so hang out with your fellow Vikings' fans and talk about it right here.

Most depressing Vikings win ever for me

Not because of the draft pick position stuff, but because of AP and Ponder.

Good win, bad day.

Gol-dangit!

We won! Don’t this put the toad in the stew for our draft position. Way-ull, I reckon it’s ok. Good to see the boys win again. And get an interception! Yeee-haw! And all you Toby Gerhart trolls can just eat a big plate of crow! Good on ye, Toby!

I was proud of Toby and have believed in him from the start.

But seriously angry about the asinine and pointless victory. Killed our chances for a franchise changing draft pick. Just dumb. Classic Vikings though. Turn a win into a moral loss anyway.

Ya know

the most common thing I see you saying to other people on here is to go somewhere else, when you provide proof of ownership of the site then feel free to order people around, but until then……..if you want to put your opinion out there and and insinuate that people or groups of people should take the easy way out of a sucky situation then expect whatever you get in return.

Here are your choices:

1) Step in front of a Ford F-150 moving 35 mph.

2) Tackle Ahmad Bradshaw 1 on 1. That dude is a beast.

Try to tackle Ahmad Bradshaw

If I step in front of a F-150 I’m going to get hit. If I try to tackle Amhad Bradshaw I’m going to be picking up my shorts every time, because he is way faster than me.

Annoyed at the win

Pointless victory that cost our team a huge draft pick. Man, we lose even when we win.

Sucks about the injuries to Peterson and Ponder but now we have a legit QB controversy too. Webb’s impact can’t be denied and I was a doubter before. Second game that he’s come in and changed things around AND won the game, basically.

Also pleased about Gerhart who I’ve supported since the start. Nice to see him prove the know-it-all doubters around these parts wrong, too. Good job, Toby!! WOOT!

Annoyed at the injuries, though, too…and they make me feel even better about my desire to see us explore the idea of trading Peterson before he’s really hurt and can’t play anymore (poor dude – hope it never happens).

I thought that last season sucked but this one is worse, honestly. We can’t do ANYTHING right, I swear. LOL

by Wytefang on Dec 24, 2011 3:54 PM CST reply actions

Possibly

Though declared, I think he has until Jan 15 to back out (could be wrong). A lot depends on next week and it’s not a sure thing that he’d pan out either. If we lose him, there’s some other stud young lineman to look at as well. Stay cheerful, it’s x-mas!

We really need a new Defensive Coordinator.

It’s nice to know we have a somewhat competent safety in Raymond and Benny Sapp has been above average in some areas, but our secondary is complete trash outside of that. We should look into starting Jarrad Page next week. If Josh McKnown throws for over 200 yards next week we are in trouble.

Well good news...

Whether you prefer Ponder or Webb… we don’t need Luck. Hopefully we can get over that right now.

Webb has that wow factor… and is right now a better choice with such a bad O-line. After some drafts and O-line remodeling though Ponder’s passing might prove him the better option… Although our secondary just needs a complete facelift. Good to see a rookie break the pick streak, even if it was a gimmie. A lot of players would still blow the gimmie. He didn’t.

Also, lol Tebow. 4 picks. The real Tebow finally comes out when he has to pass more.

Ponder vs. Webb

That's not really true. He was going to get cut, and he restructured his rookie deal

to take a small salary and a one year deal. He has been going on one year deals for a few years now. Plus, he has had to deal with several different offensive coordinators. He isn’t the stud passer that the big boys are, but he is a very good leader and game manager. I wouldn’t say he sucks.

Webb......

the kind of “player” that can succeed in spite of who the coach is, or what halftime adjustments are made, etc. He is a rare athlete.

According to the Twitters

When Brandon Jacobs was coming off the field against the Jets after the game, he told Rex Ryan “It’s time to shut up, fat boy.”

Today, we are all Brandon Jacobs fans.

i will pray thus xmas for ap's knee

good news is that blowd from the front typically result in sprains, ie hyperextensions of the ligaments as opposed to lateral strikes which tear those lugaments

if i saw the replay correctly his was more an anterior blow.

please pray with me this xmas eve for all day!!!
