Jared Allen: "I’m Going To Punch You Square In Your Wiener, Dude."

During the game against the Falcons, former Viking Ray Edwards lined up across from Jared Allen, who was long-snapping. Edwards is known to bowl over the center on plays like this, a fact that Allen is apparently well aware of according to his quote on PFT Live. Allen said: "I told him: You run over me here, I'm going to punch you square in your wiener, dude."

Edwards didn't flinch, and neither did Allen

This made me laugh

and then I had to think. I was upset that B.R. kicked an enemy in the ol’ twig n berries but when Allen did it it was ok to me. They were teammates, Allen warned him, and the punch was not very hard (at least on allens end) but does that make it ok? I have to believe that despite the “reasons” listed above, it is still a clear violation of the rules and a dirty play. As a Falcons fan, wouldnt we be upset? The rules (as far as I know) allow for Edwards to knock him down and not for allen to push his fist into his mini me.

It seemed playful to me, but I totally see where you're coming from.

I think the whole situation boils down to two former teammates razzing each other a little bit. Ray didn’t hit Jared that hard, Jared held back on his punch, and the game went on.

I can almost gaureentee he didn’t say “weiner” to Edwards.

If we can't laugh at ourselves, Packer fans will call us crybabies and we will be forced to kick their tooth in. I really don't want to go to jail (again).
