I'm not the biggest fan of Yahoo! Sports, particularly thanks to their apparent anti-Viking bias (and MJD's incredible hatred of Brett Favre was... well, unreal). That said, Doug Farrar posted an interesting overview of Mike Pouncey.
The synposis is this- he's a talented power player who will likely work best as a guard in man-on-man situations, which is the kinda scheme it seems most of us agree our O-line needs to switch to. It also seems we agree that a solid guard is our best draft scenario- not necessarily our biggest need per se on O-line, but a critical need and one that could be obtained relatively easily.
The downside to Pouncey in that situation is most mocks have him going in the first round, and I'm not sure he's worth #12 overall, which means we're crossing our fingers for him to drop to the second round (unless we aquire Vince Young, decide against drafting a QB altogether, and particularly in the scenario where we trade down- in which case, Pouncey for us in the first round might make sense).
What do you guys think? What are the odds of Mike Pouncey wearing purple next season, and should it occur, what's the most likely scenario in which that occurs?
