Philadelphia Eagles Interested In Vikings' DB Coach Joe Woods For Coordinator Role

Stay connected for news and updates

Our friends over at Bleeding Green Nation are reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have interviewed Minnesota Vikings' defensive backs coach Joe Woods for their vacant defensive coordinator position.

This interest is a bit mind-boggling to me, to say the least, considering that the Vikings' secondary has been the weak link on defense since. . .man. . .I want to say since Tony Dungy left to be the head coach in Tampa Bay back in the early 1990s. Seriously, when was the last time the Vikings had a great secondary? We've had Antoine Winfield for the last seven years, but that guy is talented enough to overcome bad coaching and still be awesome. Cedric Griffin has been pretty good when he's been healthy, but our safety play has been atrocious the entire time that Woods has been the defensive backs coach (he came in with Brad Childress and Mike Tomlin in 2006).

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how Woods survived the coaching purge that happened in the transition from Brad Childress to Leslie Frazier. . .and, as far as I'm concerned, if the Eagles want Joe Woods to be their defensive coordinator, they're more than welcome to him.
