The people have spoken, and after 277 votes were cast (as of right now), I can announce that. . .
With the fourth pick of the 2011 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select. . .
Blaine Gabbert, quarterback, Missouri
Georgia wide receiver A.J. Green came in a fairly distant second.
So, with that, we move on to the Arizona Cardinals and the fifth overall selection in the draft. The Arizona Cardinals are in the market for a quarterback, but with Newton and Gabbert both off of the board, it might be a reach to take any other quarterback at this point in time. They would more than likely end up having to wait until the second round to take a signal caller in this scenario.
Outside of quarterback, there are many different directions that the team could go. In terms of yardage, the Cardinals were ranked 31st offensively and 29th defensively, so there are obviously a lot of holes to be patched. The team generated 33 sacks on the season, so they could look in the direction of a pass rusher, and they could look to supplement the defensive secondary as well. They've also had some issues on the offensive line, and could go for a lineman as well if they feel that there's one worthy of the fifth overall selection.
As I said, the Cardinals would love for either Gabbert or Newton to fall into their laps, but in this scenario, that's not happening, so they have to move in another direction.
With that, the Cardinals are on the clock!
