2011 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft - San Francisco 49ers
The results are in for the sixth pick in the Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, and with just over 500 votes cast, I am pleased to announce. . .
With the sixth pick in the 2011 Daily Norseman Community Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select. . .
A.J. Green, wide receiver, Georgia
Green got nearly half of the votes cast, and no other player got above the 20% mark. The next highest name on the list was DaQuan Bowers, who got about 16% of the vote.
We now move on to the San Francisco 49ers, who have a couple of different directions that they could go as well.
Offensively, if your last name is Smith, you might have had a shot at playing quarterback for the Niners in 2010, as they bounced back and forth all season between #1 overall flop Alex Smith and former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith for the entire season. The Niners still managed to have a middle of the road pass offense yardage-wise, but guys like Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis can have that affect on an offense. The Niners, much like our own Vikings, have no clear answer at the quarterback position. . .but with the top two guys at the position off the board, would they reach for one?The Niners' pass defense could use some shoring up, too. With their cornerbacks, Nate Clements has lost a step, and Shawnte Spencer. . .well, he's just kind of okay. They could also use some depth on the defensive line and with their outside linebackers in their 3-4 scheme.
There's some talent that's dropping down the board pretty rapidly here, and the Niners have their pick of some pretty solid talent here at the number seven spot. Which direction do you think they should go in?
Picks Thus Far
Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Denver Broncos - Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Buffalo Bills - Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
Cincinnat Bengals - Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Arizona Cardinals - Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
Cleveland Browns - A.J. Green, WR, Georgia

I think Prince is a perfect fit for them
As much as I’d like him to fall to us, I think the 49’s will nab him. They are desperate for a corner as the only viable option they have is Nate Clements. Clements is a rapidly declining player who is owed over $7 million next year. Prince is also the BPA (IMO) at this point.
Seriously....
That hurts just looking at it!
At first i thought, nice gang sign man, and then it came into focus….
**Rupert for ProBowl 2012!**
Yes i couldn't live with my finger looking like that..
I would get it straightened out anyway I could

If Newton and Gabbert are indeed gone
I say Prince goes here. Then I’d say the Niners would be the front-runner in the Carson Palmer trade talks.
