Bleeding Green Nation Mock

Hey everybody, DeSean10 from BGN here. I started following football back in the mid-2000s by playing Madden. At that point McNabb and Culpepper were tearing up the game, so I quickly became a fan of both teams. I ended up leaning towards the Eagles (Westbrook and Dawkins helped there) but I've always been a big Vikings fan when they weren't playing the Eagles. Anyways, down to the real business here... BGN is doing their annual Mock Draft, and I got the Vikings #12 pick. I was hoping to get some insight on your possible needs. QB is the glaring one, but I feel like Newton, Gabbert, and Locker are the only ones worth spending a first on. The first two are already off the board, so I refuse to take a QB at 12. I'm hoping you guys get Kaepernick or Devlin in the 2nd round of our mock. With the possible loss of Rice, WR might be a need. But you guys still have a number of playmakers there so how do you feel about a WR in round 1? The next possible need is DE if you guys lose Edwards, what are your thoughts there? The other two spots I see as a possible need are the interior O-line and DBs. Safety isn't bad, but you guys could use a playmaker -- unfortunately I'm not sure there are any there worth the 12 spot. Peterson and Amukamara are gone, so you're not gonna want Smith or Harris at 12 either, I'd assume. Do you guys agree that the interior OL is a need, or is that just a product of my unfamiliarity with your team? Thanks for the input, and sorry about the ridiculous length FanShot. I just didn't want to fill a spot on the FanPost section.

Our main needs

In order. . .and, in my opinion. . .

-Quarterback
-Safety (probably isn’t one with a first-round grade)
-Defensive end (since Ray Edwards is all but gone)
-Center
-Wide receiver (since we don’t know what’s going on with Rice)
-Cornerback

Actually, about the only positions that we DON’T need are running back and linebacker. Everywhere else, it would be hard to argue with whoever you took at that spot, I think.

Alright, that’s about how I read it. I’ll make sure I post a link to the story when it goes up near the end of the week. Chances are it’ll be one of the big name WRs or DEs, since we’re at the 6th overall and not a single one has been picked yet. Thanks!

I agree with Chris

Based on who should be available: BPA is probably one of the Dline(Robert Quinn is tops in my eyes) or Oline(Carimi or Pouncey if I’m choosing). If Prince/Peterson happen to be there, take them. I don’t think the Vikings would take Locker this early in the draft(especially since the QBs this draft have a lot of depth, but not necessarily anyone who is a clearcut #3 behind Gabbert/Newton). Given Julio Jones’ Combine performance, personally, I wouldn’t mind taking a shot at that guy. We have a tendancy of taking gamechangers(Moss, AD, Harvin) with our 1st round pick. Plus, with Percy’s Migraines and Rice’s possibility of leaving, we might actually need a WR. We learned this past season we have no depth at all at that position.

Really, Pouncey and Carimi that high? I know Eagles fansare hoping Carimi falls to them, and most of us won’t touch Pouncey in the first. I wouldn’t take Locker any higher than 28, so i’m hoping he’s available in the second. And what’re your thoughts on Jones v. Green for WR? I know I’m in the minority here, but I think Jones will have the better career.

I like both Carimi and Pouncy

It depends on what our FO sees out there. I like Pouncey because he could play center or RG for us, depending on what we see out of our current players in OTAs/preseason. I wouldn’t say OT is an immediate need worth taking a 1st rounder on because McKinnie and Loadholt are servicable for now, but looking into the future, if we wanted to add depth and/or replacements, then make that pick. Overall, what I’m saying is that you can pick whoever you want because no one is really a “bad” pick for #12. We are not completely solid at any one position.

Skol!
