I saw this in the Pioneer Press this morning and thought I would share it.  Apparently the Cleveland Browns are interested in our 12th overall pick this year. I assume this would be so they could take a falling DE or DT such as Da'Quan Bowers, Robert Quinn, or Nick Fairley.

Now their offer isn't to trade down, they want to trade up.  According to the Pioneer Press, the offer is our #12 overall pick for Cleveland's 2nd rounder this year (#37 overall #5 in 2nd round) and their 1st rounder next year.  This would give us no picks in the 1st and 3rd round this year, but we would be very well set up next year, which is looking to be a more top heavy draft compared to the deep draft this year.

I would love for this to happen. Yeah we wouldn't get an amazing prospect in the top half of this draft, but this draft is very deep.  It would allow us to still pick up and Andy Dalton or Christian Ponder early in the second round, then address another need with a Stefan Wisniewski (C) or Stephan Paea (DT) with #43.  Considering that Cleveland isn't looking to be extremely competitive next year, it would most likely be a pick higher than #12 next year, which could be used to get one of the extremely good QBs coming out next year, such as Andrew Luck (we'd have to trade up, but it would be easier with 2 1st rounders), Matt Barkley, or Landry Jones.

The obvious downside to this would be that we would have no 1st rounder this year, which means we likely won't have any immediate contributors.  It would signal that we have given up on winning this year (to a degree) and are officially in rebuilding mode.

Like I said, I would love this to happen. I'm not to concerned about missing out on QBs this year. I'm not terribly excited about any of them and wouldn't be too broken up by missing out on them.  I would love to see us have a year of Joe Webb because I think he has superstar potential.  And if he doesn't we end up with a very high draft pick next year along with Cleveland's very high draft pick, which will set us up to reap the rewards of a top heavy draft next year.
