That's right. There's been a lot of hooplah over the past, 18 hours or so surrounding our first round pick, Christian Ponder. However, apparently that doesn't mean that the Vikings aren't looking elsewhere for Veteran help. When Free Agency starts, (Which is hopefully somewhere in the near, not distant future) NFL.com is convinced that Donovan McNabb will be picked up either by trade or through release from the Washington Redskins. I can say that this definitely makes me feel a lot better about last nights pick, however, even with the drafting of Christian Ponder, it showed that maybe the guys in our FO aren't too hot on Webb, so his future with the Vikings definitely remains in question. I think it would be safe to say that barring some crazy old man expressing his interest in returning to the Vikings, if we sign McNabb our roster would keep McNabb, Ponder, and Webb, respectively. I know that tensions and emotions are all over the place here, while we reflect on the pick, and also anticipate what the heck the next Vikings' draft surprise in the Frazier era will bring us. Also, side note, I'm hoping the VIkings draft Aaron Williams, CB, in the second round today. However if they trade back and nab their 3rd rounder back, I'd be very pleased, even if it meant that we had to give up a 4th or something from next year. What do you think? How does McNabb's possible presence affect the Vikings play ability. Let's hope Spielman knows how much an offensive line is a priority, unless we want our young guy murdered in the first game against the Chargers, which I hope to be attending actually. Anyway, here's the link. I'll be at the DMV today during the first hour or so of the 2nd round, (cue the crickets) so I'll miss our pick, but know the guys here at the DN will have me covered.
