Yep, I'm done with the puns on "Ponder" now. Just had to do it once to get it out of my system.

Two quick thoughts about the draft so far:

1. Ponder is controversial, to say the least. I just hope that we took him because he's "our guy", not because we panicked. I can live with honest decisions (even if they end in mistakes), but not one born out of stupidity.

2. Does anybody really still believe that the Vikes are a team "built to win now" like all the experts keep saying? Yes, we have Peterson, but other than that I don't see much of anything. On defense, our secondary is shaky and the line is in flux. Offensively, our line is in shambles, the QB is still a giant "?", and (without Rice) the wide receivers are pedestrian at best. I'm sorry if I sound too negative, but I honestly am bracing for a rough year or two.

My biggest "light at the end of the tunnel" right now is Leslie Frazier. I believe that he can motivate players and get them all rowing in the right direction, so to speak, which would almost be the exact opposite of his predecessor. He has also assembled a solid coaching staff to help him in the task. It may take a few years, but I think Frazier and Co. can construct a winner once again.
