Minnesota Vikings Select Slippery Rock Center Brandon Fusco

With their third of four sixth round picks in the 2011 NFL Draft, the 172nd selection overall, the Minnesota Vikings have selected Slippery Rock center Brandon Fusco.

Fusco is a small school prospect that made a big impression in a lot of the post-season collegiate action. He stands 6'4" and weighs in at right around 305 pounds, and won the Gene Upshaw award in 2011 for being the best lineman in Division II football, which is pretty impressive. He was also the first player in the history of Slippery Rock University to earn an invite to the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine.

Fusco isn't the fastest guy out there, but he is said to have very solid technique and could immediately fight for the Vikings' starting center spot with incumbent John Sullivan. He has very solid footwork, and is very good in pass protection, from all accounts.

With three picks in rapid fire succession, the Vikings seem to have done pretty well for themselves. They now have three picks remaining in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Welcome to Minnesota, Brandon Fusco!
