What If???

What if Sidney Rice is not re-signed? We will still have Percy, Visanthe, and Rudolph, but a big, strong possession reciever is something that can be irreplacable on an NFL squad, and I think if we do have one, it will help with the development of Christian Ponder greatly...

I know some people have been talking about a Vincent Jackson trade or going after Malcom Floyd, but i don't think either of those will come cheap. It'll probably take at least a 2nd round pick for Vincent and Malcom Floyd might get over 5 mil a year. The last time we paid that for a reciever with questionable hands, we ended up with Bernard Berrian. My idea is Plaxico Burress.... he gets out of jail on June 6, and he will presumably be ready to play right away this coming season. I know he's got a questionable background, but I think it's worth a shot. He may have learned something sitting in jail all these months. He's got talent, and even though he's 33, he's a young 33 and a 6' 5'' 235 pound target that could be very helpful in the red zone...

What does everyone think? Is it worth it to take a chance on him? Should we just roll with what we have at WR, with the new additions of Emmanuel Arceneaux, Juaquin Iglesias, and possibly Joe Webb at WR?

I, just like everyone else, want us to re-sign Sidney, but I'm sick of hearing about our "future stadium," and I have been a little worried Sidney will jump ship, especially considering who his agent is...
