Pat Kirwan Of NFL.com Knows His Pass Rushers
Pat Kirwan of NFL.com has been ranking different positions across the National Football League all season long, and today has revealed his list of the NFL's best pass rushers. Contrary to what a lot of people would like to believe, that Jared Allen fellow that plays for the Vikings is still pretty good, according to Mr. Kirwan. He put Allen in his "Group A" class of pass rushers, joining Pittsburgh's James Harrison, Chicago's Julius Peppers, Dwight Freeney of Indianapolis, and Demarcus Ware of Dallas as the five best pass rushers in the National Football League.
Obviously, you'd have to be pretty ignorant to talk about how Allen is "overrated" or that he's "slipping" or anything like that, because he's quite obviously not. As Kirwan points out:
He has a non-stop motor and recorded 40 sacks in the last three years. He also defended 13 passes and forced nine fumbles over that span, with most of that production coming while rushing the passer. Only DeMarcus Ware has more sacks (46.5) since 2008.
Kirwan also has another Minnesota Viking. . .for the moment, at least. . .on his list as well, as he has Ray Edwards in Group E, although he does point out the role that Allen has played in Edwards' success.
