Marion Barber

Word is that Dallas will be cutting Barber?  I am wondering what kind of conrtract he would be in the market for, but McNabb made a good name throwing those screen type dinky passes to Westbrook in order to move the chains.  Toby Gerhardt could certainly be that option, but Marion Barber to me would make a saolid third down back and you could use both Toby and Marion in a split backfield.  Blocking may be the issue.

Would do you guys think?

Unsure how I feel

We already have Gerheart, and I do believe that he will find a niche as our 3rd down back, however, when I saw Barber was to be cut, I actually was interested. I wouldn’t mind seeing Barber being brought on if he came cheap, since his physical style of play would certainly be beneficial on 3rd downs.

Just say "No."

We need a lot of help at other positions. We don’t need help at RB — high priced help at that.

I would love to have Barber back in MN

But we have more pressing needs and are either over or slim on cap space. I’d rather see us get a CB or WR with that money.

Depending on what he wants/Webb question

I like having 3 good backs. toby and Barder can block. It would all boil down to $. I just dont see it.
What i would like to see is getting Webb some reps at WR. The kid is an atletic peice of Art. he did well in the Sr. Bowl at WR. Why not chance it as Mcnabb and Ponder will be getting most the reps. So WTH. Let him take the red shirt off and run some routes…

It would take a year or more to learn the position.

So I think he’s more valuable as our second string QB next year than a (most likely) non starting WR.

Personally I think we should put Webb at running back.

Seriously though with all the needs we have on this team the one place we are solid on is RB we don’t need to waste any more money on this position.

i'm think barber's style of running would be a little redundant on this team.

but i would like a speedy little explosive gut like a jahvid best as a change of pace to complement gerhardt’s more fullback running style, and give adrian a blow.

3 beasts

Would wear the defense down in a hurry. Always a fresh, bruising RB waiting in the wings to smash the hell out of something.

Barber will cost too much money,

and he’s probably not interested in being the #3 guy neither.
I would expect to see a cheap, no-name guy taking the #3 slot (much like A. Young did) while ADAP and Toby carry the load.

???

Marion Barber as a third down back? Maybe you don’t understand what a third down back does. I recall him being known for his blocking or really his receiving in the backfield.
