Madden '12 Will Be Released In Three Hours

Yes, it's not even September yet, but this is one of the sure-fire signs of fall. (Photo by Andy Marlin/Getty Images for EA Sports)

As all of the video gamers out there surely know, the latest installment of EA Sports' Madden football series will be released on Tuesday, August 30, with many places opening up at midnight to celebrate the new release. The game came out later than usual this year due to uncertainty over the upcoming NFL season (its original release date was August 9), and there's still a roster patch that you will need to download straight away when you fire up the game, but the time is finally upon us.

You can see all of the Vikings' team rankings right here, courtesy of those folks from Bristol, Connecticut. Keep in mind, there's no Donovan McNabb on these rankings, but he will be on the Vikings' roster once you download the aforementioned roster patch. The Vikings are currently rated as a 74 overall right now, putting them at the bottom of the NFC North, but that's okay. . .my guess is that that number will be significantly higher by the time this season gets over with.

According to the good folks at PastaPadre. . .and if you're a video gamer that doesn't have them bookmarked, do yourself a favor and remedy that problem. . .Adrian Peterson has been bestowed a rare honor in this year's edition of the game. There was a vote among fans to determine which players would receive a perfect "100" rating in each of five different categories, and one of those 100s went to the best running back in the National Football League. Peterson's 100 rating is in the category of "Elusiveness," a category he won via a vote against the likes of Jamaal Charles (who came in second place in the voting), Ray Rice, Danny Woodhead, and LeSean McCoy. The other "100" ratings went to New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady (throw accuracy), Pittsburgh Steelers' linebacker James Harrison (hit power), Arizona Cardinals' wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (spectacular catch), and Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver DeSean Jackson (speed).

Any of you folks going out to get a copy of Madden '12 at midnight tonight? If so, feel free to leave your impressions of the game right here for everyone, whether it's PS3, XBox 360, or Wii.

Honestly forgot that Madden was coming out. Luckily I put that $5 reservation down at GameStop right after the lockout. I’ll be picking it up tomorrow morning, as nowhere around here is doing a midnight thing.

Vikings....OUCH

Im leaving to pick up Madden in a few minutes. Last year i couldnt wait to fire up the Purple shirts with Favre and Sidney and AP. This year, ill be playing another team for sure. I refuse to go near McNabb and his 99 choke rating, 97 team cancer rating, and -38 leadership rating.

Ill miss using AP but i will wait until McNabb is gone to use the Vikes again.

You could just start Ponder or Webb. Not like you’re locked into playing with McNabb.

McNabb

TD:Int Ratio is 225:111 which is 3rd best among active QBs (Brady, Manning)

Win & is .629 which is 3rd best among active QBs (Brady, Manning)

I know you are talking about Madden and all, but give the guy a break. He is a solid QB.

You're going to feel silly by the time the season is over.

When has McNabb ever been a cancer?

Ponder/Webb

I had the early release of Madden, so thankfully I was playing since the 26th.

I immediately traded McNabb away for a 1st and 7th round pick, and started Webb over Ponder (because I still believe in Webb….) And this is the change in their overall;

McNabb (Injured after 3rd game in Seattle) Started 82 OVR dropped to 76 OVR
Ponder (started 6 games before I benched him) Started 72, jumped to 80
Webb (started 10 games, played in all 16) Started 66, jumped to 74

I’m debating trading Ponder if he goes up anymore… But with how the game creates so many players for the draft, and walk on try outs is ridiculous. Each team has AT LEAST 1 rookie QB, many have 2-3 going through pre-season. But all in all its gonna be fun to see what I can do with the QBs.

Getting a first and seventh for McNabb after acquiring him for a sixth? Now THAT’S some GMing!

AHAHAH

Am I the only one that found trading McNabb to Seattle of all teams hilarious?

AP

Why for the love of god is AP considered fumble prone in madden 12! what a joke! he fumbled ONE time last year if memory serves.

by RedHat16 on Aug 30, 2011 1:08 PM CDT reply actions

AP was never really fumble prone

If you look up the fumble rates of Walter Payton and pretty much any all star RB for the first 4 years of their career.

It's Kyle Rudolph

…not Lane Kendricks. Get it right Collinsworth.

McNabb's good enough for me

I seem to be having no problem rockin McNabb in madden now that the player controls the turbo I can pull it down and take off real easy (even better with Webb) but McNabb has been pretty accurate and strong for my team

Fun but not great

Haven’t played Madden in a couple of years since they usually don’t change much. This years version is a lot like the last 5-6 years. Fun but definetely not great.

If you love football (pretty obvious if you are even reading this) then you will probably enjoy this years version. Just don’t expect it to win any sports game of the year awards. The quality between Madden and other EA franchises such as FIFA and the NHL series is still dramatic…….in a bad way for Madden.

If you enjoy Madden you should at least rent the new NHL of FIFA games. After a couple of games in either you will see why everybody has been dogging Madden for years. The difference in quality is mind blowing. Don’t get me wrong though. Like I said earlier Madden is still fun but not even in the same league as other franchises.

Yeah

That and the 2K8 game with the legends are still better than the Madden offerings.

Follow me, mmk?

Fifa is an amazing game

they have been consistently good for years, and I’m not just saying that because Bayern Munich is always a top team even in their off year. (they only had one)

I'm like the Dali Lama of kicking ass

LOL

Just ran into my first glitch. I threw a pick 6 to the Packers and when they scored the TD, the crowd at the Dome began to sing the Vikings fight song!!!! Good Lord.

I got it for PS2…..
