Well, the Vikings have let go offensive lineman Bryant McKinnie. To me, McKinnie has always been one of those guys who never really put in the hard dedication needed to maintain a high stature in the NFL.
His first few years were impressive (never got beat), followed by a few more solid campaigns. However, cracks began to form a few years ago when McKinnie started a get beat off the ball a little more than usual. After that, the decline has been a bit more steep, what with his Pro Bowl dust-up a little while back and a year in 2010 that I would consider well below average.
This year, I guess he came into camp significantly overweight and battling some other health issues, and thus no longer worth his veteran salary anymore on a rebuilding unit. To be honest, I can't say that I'll miss him much at this point. I don't know if his replacement (whoever that may be) will do any better, but I think it is a good move to clear out all the "old guard" and start fresh on the O-line under Leslie Frazier.
