Ben Leber Is Now A Ram
Former Viking linebacker Ben Leber has found a new home in St. Louis. He signed a one-year deal with the Rams worth $1.25 million.
Leber was a very solid cog of the Vikings defense for the past five seasons, playing in all but one game during his tenure in Minnesota. He never racked up a ton of stats, but he seemed to have a knack for making big plays. His consistency won't be easy to replace, even though LB is one position where the Vikings are fairly deep.
Best of luck to Mr. Leber with his new team. I'm really going to miss making those cheesy "Leber 2000 is really cleaning up!" jokes about him in the game threads.

Good football player
Ben Lieber was never the most physically gifted guys out there, but he was usually around the ball and almost never got fooled into being out of position. Solid tackler, good hands. If Erin Henderson can match that, the Vikings will be lucky.
No dont say he has good hands
He was a solid player, great contributor but as The DN says, he couldn’t catch herpes in a whore house. I can’t think of how many times he cringed as he dropped interceptions. Time. After. Time.
He will be missed though.
Ponder to Harvin for 6!

Henderson
Should be a solid replacement if he studies the position as we’re being told. Younger, faster, with good instincts, the spot should be held down well.

I liked Ben and wish him well
But I thought he was frequently out of position last year. Might be a faulty memory but it seemed all the long runs by our opponents went right by him.

for that price, i kind of wish we still had him...but good luck to him, the rams are on the rise.
warcraft, you are my guitar hero !!!
Interesting
Manny Lawson signs for 3 mil and Leber signs for 1.25 mil.
Yet the Vikings MAY keep players like Camarillo & Frampton who are making more than Leber (Frampton is probably close unless he took less this year – last year he made 1.1 mil).
And if they keep Herrera then I do not know what to think. I would rather see DeGeare and Cook man that spot all year.
Maybe the Vikings could not guarantee Leber that he would start? Maybe they really do want to see Erin H on the field?
Farwell is making more than what Leber just signed for. I would rather keep Leber and let someone else play special teams to be honest because at least they could count of Leber to play base defense.
Ben, ...
a fine job on the CBA.
Ben, we’ve got to cut you anyway…
(Of course, doing that kind of work very well is not exactly something that wins those brownie points with upper management. In the final headline, entropy always wins. Go ask a man with a Harvard degree in Baltimore. Hey, are your best playing years ahead of you, Mattie B.?)
However we might feel, the basic truth is it is unwise to let all your linebackers become Favrian in nature.
If you must draft the players of the future and the team bus only has its 53 seats, then somebody’s getting off or we’re getting a moving violation.
Whatever Michael feels, we all gotta go sometime:
“Ben, most people would turn you away…
…I’m sure they’d think again, if they had a friend like Ben.”
Yep, old Father Time is just downright creepy.
I'm glad someone picked him up
he’s nearing the end of his career but I thought he had a couple more years in him.
Childress gone, TJack gone, new stadium on the way: it's like that Christmas when Santa brought prostitutes!
One play I will always remember...
…Is him stuffing a RB on 4th down to seal the game.
Will miss seeing him in purple and wish him the best!
Reality sets in
Due to the need to use a lot of nickel coverage packages, Leber is on the field for 1/2 or fewer of the plays. Good guy to have on the team, but this D needs to get younger – and more athletic. I like the kid we drafted from OSU. I hope he gets a good chance to make the team.
Ach, mein Leber! :(
Hockeymetricians, they're ever so pious. Are they doing real science or confirming their bias?
