Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Unbelievable

This is my first time writing in. I will say this that I am truly angry right now. Why do you hire coaches. To COACH! Unbelievable. What a bunch of cowards! To afraid to coach. Players will play to loose. You saw it today. Shame on you. Give your salary back you coached pathetically. I am a huge fan of my Vikings however it seemed like you have no idea what your doing. You have time outs use them. Pathetic Im sick to my stomach. From a true Viking Fan

That's what it comes down to...

COACHING~! I couldn’t agree more with kitty…because in the end that’s what DEFINES a team….it’s coaches. Lesley Frazer, in my book, was a good decision….but I’m not so sure about the coaches HE picked….and that’s what defines a HEAD COACH…the coaches chosen to run the team….and if this (now it IS a) trend continues, I’d have to question more and more of coach Frazers decisions.

I understand the frustration

but I still believe that guys like Musgrave and Pagac (and Singletary) know what they are doing and will settle down as the season progresses. I mean, all of them have had various levels of success in this sport- so it’s not like we have Jimmy Dumbsh*t from the bar calling the shots.

I have faith. It’s a whole new environment and combination for almost the entire coaching staff.

As far as Frazier? Well, it’s never easy for a brand new head coach- but the man has proven with the various teams he’s been with (from playing with the Bears, to coaching in Philly, Indy, and to here) that he’s a smart guy that gathers the trust and respect from his teams.
He came into an impossible situation late last year, showed remarkable poise, and carved out a few wins from a broken team. He had to start his first full-fledged year as a coach coming off a work-stoppage and shortened offseason prep.

I still believe in these coaches- even though I’ve wanted to strangle most of them in the second half of each of these past two games. :p

Let’s just try to relax and see how they adjust.
I might revisit this post down the line and agree with you if things continue to go south. :)

I appreciate your loyalty, but...

Look how long we stuck with Childress? And Mike Tice? If Leslie (not a girl’s name) doesn’t take immediate control of this team by imparting his reported discipline on it, we are going to see thirteen more games just like the last three, which have essentially been identical. I am quickly losing the hope that I gained when he took over for Childress, but I see no adjustments at half time and no adjustments game to game. There’s more than the bleakness of a cold winter coming.

i'm siding with you Odin

Its not like Frazier came into a Gruden type team in Tampa. He’s had to make some difficult decisions and some decisions were out of his control (I disagree with cutting McKinnie) He might not be the best left tackle, but he gave us some comfort and he had his strengths. I just don’t think his weaknesses were over glaring his strengths.

I’m preaching Kevin Williams return, and maybe it won’t change the 2nd half collapses but I feel like its going to take away the quarterback able to sit comfortably in the pocket and step into his throws. Once we get the quarterback pressure up the middle is when we’ll see those DE’s start to rack up some sacks. With more sacks we’ll start to see quarterbacks become less comfortable and more drives stalled and more opportunities at turnovers.

0-2 sucks, and i’m not going to be upset with anyone having troubles being positive about this team. My big thing is this team continues to get better. I believe they have made strides in game 1 to game 2. They increased the passing threat, even made strides in the running game. The big factor they didn’t improve on was stupid penalties. In both games, the personal foul really put us in terrible situations and the worse possible times. Jared Allens late hit, and I believe Griffins tackle out of bounds. (Even though both could argue could have been no-calls)

How many off-sides have we had so far? 4? 5?…come on fellas!

I will say this you are right about big long strides

Looking at the first halfs of the two games and the Tampa game was a big win. Unfortunately the second half effort we made no strides at all :D.

Fact is the NFL is a passing league, and while I think it’s great we’re bucking the system I don’t think ignoring the pass like we have for the past six years is going to get us where we need to go. God Berrian is such a disappointment, if we had just ONE receiver we could seriously count on it would open up our game so much. And if McNabb could throw a decent ball longer than 10 yards.

I'm going to consult my lawyer to see if I can sue you for mental plaigerism.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

Believable

A new offensive system takes time to implement. Like Percy Havin said after the game, there were many plays where players were not even lined up correctly.
Its going to take time and I’m going to continue backing the team and coaches while they go through this rebuilding stage. I still have faith in all our assistants and especially Frazier to get the Vikings playing solid ball.
Lets give them a couple more games before we start calling for heads to roll.

Right On Percy

Percy Harvin is a leader and he leads by example. You can bet you will see him in the red zone from now on. Look at what the Bills did. He will be in the least ,a decoy, in the red zone, leaving the bigger recievers open for the first look.

I believe he positioned himself as the leader of the team, this week. He knows that when in the red zone score the touchdown. If the offense, is in the wrong formation call the time out. Dont panic, get it right! He understands because the game has slowed down for him.

Watch out this week.he will be the star and move the VIKINGS back in the hunt in the NFC North.

6 comments and 7 recs to date.

I’ve never seen that ratio of comments to recs before. Not bad for a first post. Not bad at all.

Add to that the fact that your post is only 4 and quarter lines long, and I think you might have a DN record. Over 1 rec per line of text. Juxtipose that with a recent post of mine in which I appear to have managed 1 rec per 4 paragraphs of text; very humbling.

As much as I want to pass this off as beginner’s luck, I can’t. You have a gift. You appear to have tapped into what I can only call, “Populist rage.”

Go Vikes!
