In the movie "City Slickers", Jack Palance tells Billy Crystal that the secret to life is "one thing"...
Well, for this brief Vikings preview, there are two "one things" (one for offense, one for defense) that I believe the Vikings will need to have a successful season.
The key here will be the play of the offensive line. Not only will it create a bit of space and push for A.D., but also allow McNabb to spread the ball around to Harvin, Berrian, Camarillo, and Jenkins. An inability to keep the QB upright or win those battles for Petey will see an offensive output much like 2010.
Health is the operative phrase here. When all our starters are out on the field, I think our defense can do enough to keep games winnable. If guys start dropping like flies, though, our "second string" (as was proven last year) can both be run through and beaten by the deep bomb.
If those two things hold up for the Vikings, I think that a wild card playoff berth is a real possibility. Without them, a repeat of '10 is almost inevitable.
