Don Banks On Jared Allen's Season
Don Banks, "I don't know about you, but I am going to recognize Vikings defensive end Jared Allen as the NFL's all-time single-season sack king, with the 22 he racked up this year, capped by Sunday's big 3.5-sack showing in a loss to Chicago. Allen may have come up a half-sack shy of Michael Strahan's 2001 record of 22.5 sacks in the eyes of the league, but we all remember how Strahan got the record-breaker that season. I wonder if Brett Favre had a flashback Sunday and fell down without a fight somewhere?"

This year for Allen was the greatest for a DE of all time
The 2001 Giants weren’t a bad team and didn’t have a horrid defense. He couldn’t have received as many double teams and chips as Allen did this year. Teams didn’t spread it out on us and run 5 WRs very often this year because our secondary was absolute shit and they could afford to leave a RB and TE in to block.
But besides just having to fight harder to get the sacks, he had to fight hard just to stay motivated. Having an unrelenting motor must have been hard when teams were carving our defense up and we kept losing very close games. Jared Allen is a warrior, and I hope he retires a Viking.
If we can't laugh at ourselves, Packer fans will call us crybabies and we will be forced to kick their tooth in. I really don't want to go to jail (again).

Going off-topic a bit here..
but the man has a real good point about the NFL turning into the AFL. Seriously, one thousand yards passing in a game? Good Lord. If that doesn’t show the rules could do with a bit of tuning, I don’t know what would. NFL teams are going to get so one-sided in terms of Pass-vs-Run that the RB position will basically just turn into a Backfield-WR.
What's crazy...
is that this is just ANOTHER way that that jackass Brett Favre is screwing us.
I agree with Don Banks
Allen is the record holder in my mind until someone legitimately gets more than 22. Old gap-tooth had a great career, and he does have a Super Bowl ring, but he should be embarrassed to have that record.
