Nation Wide Mock Draft
Hello Vikings Fans,
I had an idea for a mock draft in which your sports nation site acts as your team. Over the next few months I plan to visit each team's site and allow for each reader to help pick your team's draft pick. Please answer the poll to select your team's draft pick.
Just to give you a little more on this idea and myself, I am a writer for bleacherbumsports.net and will continue to organize all of the draft information I receive through my site. The poll will be up for 3 days after which the player with the most votes is your teams draft pick. I will then move on to the next site and have them pick from which players are left. This will only be a first round draft and can not involve trades so please pick where your team currently is. I would really appreciate everyones help with this. Thanks in advance! - Sam
Current Draft:
1. Colts - QB Andrew Luck
2. Rams - WR Justin Blackmon
The Poll will be open until Jan.14 at 11pm.
This FanPost was created by a registered user of The Daily Norseman, and does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff of the site. However, since this is a community, that view is no less important.

Who the hell voted for Reiff?
One more strike and you lose your man card.

Might as well...
close the poll now. I’d be shocked if at least 90% of the votes here aren’t for Kalil.
Yeah, thats kind of what i expected but i still have to let people voice their opinion
interesting side note: in the rams poll Kalil was winning the first day and the second two days Blackmon took over the lead
To help you out
Rec’d! Also, I am just really tired of seeing that “Why RG3 just makes sense” fanpost up there. So, this one would knock it out of the rec’d area. :)
Ponder. Peterson. Percy. Purple Perfection.
Thanks!
Its really going to be interesting to see how this pans out. I have made up some mock drafts here and there but giving it over to the fans of each team is interesting, i wish i could put trades in but I couldn’t act as the other team and would get to out of control
Hey JetMet,
I actually did this last year. I thought you might be interested in the format that I used.
Here’s my final product!
I also Rec’d this page, hoping to get this rolling for you.
This is definately fun, but also exhausting.
I think the hardest part, was setting the time-tables for each team. You have some teams that you’ll get 100+ votes in a day, and others that a couple days in, you still only have 20.
My advice, try contacting the page editors & see if they will help you get your poll on the front page (or at least to mention it with a link).
I had a couple editors that were especially helpful. (The Patriots guy (Richard Hill) was EXTREMELY helpful).
Thanks for your help
thats so weird looking back on it now seeing how bowers was 2nd overall and cam went 10th and so on. Im real curious to how accurate this is going to be
We will trade Down!
With the RG3 factor, (Robert Griffin III), if Saint Louis takes Blackmon and does not trade down you will see a crazy bidding war for the Vikings pick coming from Miami, Washington and Cleveland. Maybe a secret bidder sneaks in there for the Vikings pick, but we won’t trade out of the top 10 and look at Kalil, Martin or Reiff as our first pick. Oh the fun of speculating!
Other (trade down to #6) and take Martin

Taken RGIII
and trade him just like the Chargers did with Eli Manning
the Chargers didn't really trade Eli..
technically Eli traded himself by telling them he refused to play for them even before they drafted him.

In the trade, the Chargers received a third-round pick in the 2004 draft (used on kicker Nate Kaeding), a first-round pick in 2005 (resulting in linebacker Shawne Merriman) and a fifth-round pick in 2005, which they traded for left tackle Roman Oben.

I voted for RG3...
so we can trade him to Cleveland for the 4 and the 22. We get Kalil anyway and another 1st rounder. If there is a bidding war, like BleedPurple60 said, maybe we get more. Okay, so the bidding war part might be wishful thinking.
Why would we select him then trade
instead of just trading picks? Seems very inefficient.
If we can't laugh at ourselves, Packer fans will call us crybabies and we will be forced to kick their tooth in. I really don't want to go to jail (again).

Because this mock doesn’t have trading picks.

I would like to see what San Diego got for Eli from the giants
when they had Rivers on their squad, and picked Eli. just so they could trade him to the team Eli wanted.
Rivers was part of that trade i believe

no, I am quite confident
that they had rivers before they picked Eli
Nope, Eli was picked #1 overall and the Giants picked Rivers #4 overall that year.
Once the Giants picked Rivers they traded him and draft picks to the Chargers for Eli. The other picks involved in the trade netted the Chargers Shawn Merriman and Nate Kaeding.

thanks CV
Ricky check out the links I posted above, they got Philip Rivers and the Chargers received a third-round pick in the 2004 draft (used on kicker Nate Kaeding), a first-round pick in 2005 (resulting in linebacker Shawne Merriman) and a fifth-round pick in 2005, which they traded for left tackle Roman Oben.

I'd be careful
About taking a player that we just want to trade. If we’re not careful we could end up with a player we don’t want/need.
Hey Green Bay, where's your WNBA title???
That also

Once again
this poll does not allow us to trade picks. Besides, we could have a trade agreed upon when we do select RG3, so the Browns would pick the player we want, and then the trade would be announced later.

After watching us this season,
I cannot think of a single player in this draft (aside from the QBs) whom we do not want or need.
I don't have a chart...
but if Cleveland knows that we are seriously talking to other teams about the #3 pick aka RG3, Cleveland might feel forced to step up to the plate with their best offer.

Exactly. And they could always offer #4 and a third-rounder
or some other asset that we could package with other pick(s) and turn into another first- or second-rounder.
In each position
you want to upgrade, have a list of three you think might work well. If you don’t get the first guy, move on. NEVER second guess what other teams are doing or not doing. Draft the people you want.
Tough, but, don’t trade for ‘stop-gaps’ either…use the guys you got …that will build the ‘team’…a concept that seems to get lost in all the machinations of trading.
had to go with other
because the rams could draft Kalil and another team might pay the vikes a healthy ransom to move into the slot ahead of the browns. with hopes of draft RG3 at #3.
how many draft picks it would require for the vikes to trade the #3 overall away, thats a question i can’t answer.
"the bengals are not a west of the 104 longitude team."
Ummm no, Rams already drafted Blackmon and there are no trades in this draft
You just take the player who is available who you think would best help the team. So who would you take that’s left?
Thank you so much everyone!
The poll should have closed by now but I think i have who the selection is even though it was so close haha …If i put the amount of people that voted on both the colts and rams sites together you guys voted about 200 more times! Good luck to your team the rest of the way and ill come back when I finally finish the whole draft and show you all the results of all the teams for anyone interested.
We were just getting started...
thanks for the poll, and good luck with the project. Please do share the results with all of us!
I will come back and post a fanshot when it's all done
Also I’ll post like ten picks at a time on my site bleacherbumsports.net for anyone more interested, we also have other mock drafts but for this project I’m doing I’ll make sure everyone is informed
