NFL Divisional Playoff Sunday Open Thread

When your defensive game plan doesn't extend much beyond "attempt to injure as many opposing players as possible," sometimes things like this will happen. (Photo by Jed Jacobsohn/Getty Images)

Two more games to determine the other half of both Conference Championship Games this morning, boys and girls.

The early game today, set to kick off in about 45 minutes or so on CBS, features the Houston Texans making a trip to the East Coast to take on the Baltimore Ravens. The winner of this one gets the privilege of heading to Foxboro to battle the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game next Sunday after the Patriots blasted the Denver Broncos last night to the tune of 45-10.

The late game will see the New York Giants head up north to face the Green Bay Packers. That game will kick off at 3:30 PM Central time on FOX. If Green Bay wins, they will host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game next weekend. Should the Giants emerge victorious, that game will take place at Candlestick Park. That's because the Niners took down the Cheap Shot Artists of New Orleans yesterday with a brilliant last-minute drive, concluding with a Vernon Davis touchdown catch with just nine seconds left on the clock for a 36-32 victory.

I suppose losses for the Saints and the Packers in the same weekend is too much to hope for. But that isn't going to stop us from hoping for it anyway.

So, if you want to talk about today's action with your fellow Viking fans, here's the place to do it!

Apparently we need a law to prevent felons from possessing guns if their team makes the playoffs.

Honestly, I don't know who I trust less... Yates or Flacco.

I’d lean towards Yates being more likely to have a respectable day. I’m guessing we’ll see a lot of punts and field goals today.

by Purpledork on Jan 15, 2012 12:09 PM CST reply actions

I go toward Yates, too

Someone has proven over and over that the Ravens don’t know much about winning on offense. Not sure who, but probably Flacco…

For the second year in a row, everything in the NFL playoffs is un-folding in such a way as to make me as miserable as possible.

The ’niner’s win yesterday pretty much ensures the winner of today’s NFC game will advance to the the Super Bowl. In other words, bet on the Packers now.

And now I have to cheer for Ray “Stabby” Lewis Christ, unless I want the insufferable Patriots to make yet another Super Bowl.

Rodgers really didn't choke too bad...

But their whole receiving corp was replaced by Berrian. What was it, 7? 8 drops?! LOL

by Crosseyes on Jan 15, 2012 6:55 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Yeah he was off for sure.

But there was literally probably 14 points dropped that was all receivers. Though you take back the 14 points the refs gave them it doesn’t matter in the end anyway. LOL

Dad calls again:

Me: Hello?
Dad: HAHAHAHAHA, I don’t know who’s going to cry like a baby more, McCarthy or Rodgers. CRY YOU BABIES CRRRRYYYYYYYY.

I still hadn’t stopped laughing from the first call.

I just have to say this one thing to Packer fans. In the words of Jackie Moon

“You can all eat shit! Anyone and everyone can eat shit! A big bag of shit! Ohh I’m so happy I can’t even feel my arms!”

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, it's just that your's is stupid.

Two touchdowns given to GB by the officials.

I think the NFL owes all fans an apology. I wonder if all fans can file a class action suit against the NFL for defrauding us..

The Universe is one again!

No Steelers, no Saints and no Packers in the Superbowl! At least to the Packers fans that crammed their holier then thou with their 13 Championships will cringe when I tell them hey, at least we can make it to the NFC Championship game after going 15-1 before we lose.

But yeah, there will be those that will do the “whatever” crap and still try tio throw their crap in my face, but hey, a leat a little silence from them will commence.

Eh

As long as Jerry Jones thinks he knows how to run a team, I’m not worried. After all, even he just said he has been doing things the same way for the last 20+ years, why should he change now………..

here is what he had to say about it.

no problem with that

don’t like the guy but he is the only media talking head that has the balls to say anything negative about Aaron Rodgers.

Aaahh....

This year has been salvaged now with Tebow and Rodgers no longer in it. I can enjoy these last few games this year. Don’t care for the Pats but it’s only a minor annoyance compared to the Pack and Tebow.

LOL I'm not posting anything or trolling..

but I did take a peak at the APC thread..it’s so freaking hilarious how much homerism is going on. Everyone was so happy over there about the roughing the passer call at the end..he clearly didn’t touch his helmet..same thing about the fumble earlier in the game(that didn’t stay a fumble)..all the packer fans definitely wear green shades and drink the green koolaid
