Dungy, Frazier, Singletary and Williams, The sky is not falling
There have been many interesting conversations going on about our beloved Vikings. What amazes me is all the negativity expressed on the boards. Many fans wanted Tony Dungy as our GM. So did I, but is that realistic? Then they think we are doomed because we kept Spielman.
They complain about Singletary, they want him fired because of the "Linebackers Regression" and insist he only has a job because he is a friend of Leslie ! I prefer to see him as a Hall of Fame Linebacker and maybe slightly responsible for some of the resurgence of the SF 49ers. Thanks to GeoMak for some very good points he has provided in a heated discussion with a Jim Harbaugh supporter.
Now they Howl about the new Def Cord being a friend of Leslie.. We should have got Greg Williams (who has been fired how many times ?) We should have done this or we should have done that. BUT I ask you WWTDD (What Would Tony Dungy Do?) Ummm don’t we already know the answer to that ! He is the one that hired Williams in the first place.
I don’t know what the future holds but I am impressed by Mr Williams history. He graduated from a pretty good college in Williamsburg VA by the name of William & Mary. Do you know anything about that place ? The Star Trib finally did some good due diligence. This William & Mary article by Dan Wiederer should help.
The Sky is not falling, Football is an intriguing combination of Smash Mouth, Finesse and good old fashioned Cognitive Ability. The puzzle is being completed before your eyes. We are getting some REAL BRAIN POWER around here.. Thank You Leslie, Thank You Tony. AND Please God, Heal our wounded warrior Adrian Peterson.

Ditto on the great post

Tony Dungy..
also hired Frazier as DC. And then we did too. Supposedly, he was good with the secondary, which is what we needed. How’s it worked out since then? We set the new NFL Record for games w/o an interception. That’s absolutely terrible.
Forgive us for not buying into another Indiannapolis Colts defensive coach. If this year showed us anything, its that the team is all Peyton Manning. Even their defense relies on him, because its a finesse D. That’s not going to cut it in our division.
The Power of Positive Thinking
You don’t have to drink the Kool -Aid.. I believe in the power of positive thinking. I understand that there are Christian Coaches and players on other teams, I just happen to believe that ours will prevail.. Maybe I will devote more time to it in another post… If the debauchery that is New Orleans can,,, err I digress
Give them a chance.
Last season was not only a disaster for the Vikings but also for many other teams that needed to make significant changes. The lock out caused many teams to regress. Those that did well had all or most of their pieces in place. Frazier needs to be given a chance to develop this team with OTAs and other off season work. Ponder needs the work and Adrian needs to heal and re-condition. If next year shows no improvement, then some more significant changes in the coaching staff needs to be made.
Speaking of OTAs
Does anyone know if the Vikings will get the extra OTAs that new coaches get since they were screwed out of them last year?
