You're the GM

A very quick and simple poll.

There has been a lot of debate recently about what the Vikings should do when they are on the clock at number 3. Most people would agree that if Kalil is on the board then we pull the trigger. But what if he isn't..... what would you do?

Star-divide

I'd be interested to see which player the majority of DN voters would go with given the choice....

SKOL!

i have always been of the mind ‘build from the lines out.’ that being said, if kalil is gone, i think we need to get martin or Reiff. ponder, webb, whoever is out there, NEEDS to have that blind side protected.

Yes, always protect your little general....the one with the purple helmet...we need Trojan Man!

So I say, go get yerself a Trojan Magnum, take the guy from USC.

I've waffled on this one

But the drop off at OT after the 1st round is much worse than it is at WR or DB. I say trade down and take Martin. With the extra picks, get Casey Hayward and Cordy Glenn in the 2nd. Then address WR in the 3rd with Jeff Fuller. WIth the comp. in the 3rd address LB or DT. 4th round address safety. BPA from there.

Trade down and take Martin

I like him more than Reiff, and he fits our offense better, has more upside and has good feet for a big man. After the combine I think he’ll separate himself from Reiff. If Martin is gone too then take Reiff. We need a LT!

Any option but Blackmon

First, I’d go with Kalil
After that, it’s a toss up for me between trading for really good picks or RGIII
Then its Claiborne if we don’t get a really good trade in terms of picks.
I have no interest in taking a WR with the 3rd pick.

TAKE AN OT!

Reiff or Martin! We dont need anymore injuries to our QBs

I hate to say it but, picking up RGIII wouldn't suck

I mean it would because we have so many holes on our team, but how often do teams not names Lions or Rams get top three picks? I think you have to go with the most important position on the field and make sure you’ve got it locked up. With that said I would go like kcskol and pull Kalil, RGIII, Trade down for Martin, Claibourne.

Good QB’s aren’t a dime a dozen and I don’t think we’ll be seeing this high of a draft pick again for a long while.

The Vikes aren't in a remodeling or reconstruction they are in a burn the place down and start praying they don't mimic the Lions rebuilding process.

Tradedown if....

We are able to get 2 first rounders in return. Then take Reiff or martin, and DB/WR with other pick.

LT PLEASE

I dont care when we pick or if we trade as long as our first pick is a 1st rd LT,ALL THREE I BELIEVE ARE FRANCHISE LT PROSPECTS.

Only Trade Scenerios IMO

The latest chatter has St. Louis trading the #2 pick, but for the purpose of this poll here is what I hope to see assuming Luck and Kalil are off the board.

We hold the pick that most assume RGIII will be drafted in. The only trading partner I would be serious about is Cleveland. They currently hold their pick at 4 and Atlanta’s pick at 22. You have to convince Cleveland that teams like Washington, Miami and Seattle are offering you a boatload of picks for RGIII at 3. We gain at minimum an extra 1st round pick and slide back only one pick. The other teams mentioned can only offer us picks in the 6 – 12th range and future picks or later round pick which I see far less value in. In this case I would try and slide back out of 4 to the 6 -10 range and take best LT available then BPA at either WR or CB with 22.

Now if St. Louis decided to take Blackmon to give Bradford a receiving target we have a similar scenario. Once again you talk to Cleveland and try to convince them to trade at least #4 and #22 for #3, gambling that they take RGIII, Take Kalil at #4 and still pick up #22 and possibly an additional 2nd or 3rd rounder from Cleveland. If Cleveland takes that trade but passes on RGIII, I would let the bidding begin again for our pick at 4 depending on who is still on the board.

The last few drafts I’ve sat and watched as the Patriots wheel and deal and then are getting numerous picks in rounds 1 – 3. We need to upgrade the O-line, secondary, receivers and linebackers in that order, and if we can force Cleveland’s hand we can take major steps to filling the major holes this year during the early rounds where you are more likely to find players that can be day 1 starters.

If Kalil is off the board

and the Browns offer us their 2nd round pick simply to swap picks with us – i’d take it. obviously it would be nice to get their 2nd first round pick but they might only be willing to give that up to jump up to 2nd spot and guarantee that they get RGIII.

so that would leave us with picks #4,35 & 36. with those we could likely select Reiff at #4 and mayeb Poe at and Barron at #35 & #36.

That would be pretty nice. Although at this moment in time I would prefer that we got Kalil at #3 and stick in our spot for the entire draft, taking the best CB, Safety, WR or DT prospect on the board with our 2nd and 3rd round picks.
