Your 2012 AFC-NFC Pro Bowl Open Thread
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's the second-to-last game of the entire 2011-12 NFL season, and it comes to you LIVE from Honolulu, Hawai'i in just a little while.
The Vikings only have two representatives in this year's contest, unfortunately. Those two men are defensive end Jared Allen (because. . .well, duh), and linebacker Chad Greenway (who was added to the team after Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs withdrew because of an injury). Adrian Peterson, who was the MVP of the Pro Bowl back in 2007, likely would have been on the team if not for. . .well, you know.
I know that a lot of people think of the Pro Bowl as a waste of time. As far as "All-Star" games go, the Pro Bowl is probably the worst of the All-Star games held by the four major sports. The Pro Bowl, along with the NBA All-Star Game and the NHL All-Star Game, are generally "defense optional" affairs that end up with ridiculous amounts of scoring. . .it makes for good viewing for the less hardcore fans, I guess, but for the more hardcore fans of the sport, it can get a little hard to watch. The only All-Star game that doesn't suffer from this sort of problem is the baseball All-Star Game because. . .well, in the words of the immortal Earl Weaver, in baseball you can't kill the clock. You've got to give the other man his chance.
Well, Earl said it in a much more colorful manner than that, but I'm trying to keep it family-friendly.
So, if you're going to be watching the Pro Bowl, feel free to talk about it with your fellow Viking fans right here!

Coincidence??
Is old number 84, the ex Viking doing the reporting, or does that bald guy share the “Randy Moss” name??

They're not even playing!
This may as well be a “Walk-Through”
Both lines are avoiding contact as much as possible….Nobody’s really trying to get to the QB.
I know they’re supposed to be taking it easy, but this is a joke.

Fans booing
as they should for this effort. Seriously, why not just make it 7 on 7 flag? Be more entertaining.

Anyone else conflicted??
I’m cheering for the NFC, yet I still want to see Aaron Rogers get flattened … repeatedly.
lolz Jared Allen.
I was expecting him to do something crazy as the defensive lineman here for the pro-bowl are just decorations with all the special rules. He didn’t disappoint.
And Greenway gets burned.

Was the bald guy born with the name "Randy Moss"
Or did he change his name to capitalize on the notoriety of a certain former Minnesota Viking wide receiver? If the bald white Randy Moss was born with current name, did it help him promote his career??
Two-handed touch football
Man, was the Pro Bowl boring. Defenders didn’t want to hurt anybody, so it was like,
“I got both hands on you, so you gotta fall down now.”
“Okay, I’m falling down.”
Since they’re in Hawaii, they should just do a surfing competition, or boat rowing.
i dont see
Why they even have the defense on the field for field goals

The probowl is even dumber than it was before
At least a few years ago, the guys tried throughout the game. They usually just made sure not to go for the head or the legs. I admit I watched the probowl for long enough to see the gloves. Those are cool, but that’s about it. The game itself is a joke and essentially made a mockery of the game of football yesterday. I wanted to see Jared Allen get a few sacks, but when everyone stands around and doesn’t even try it basically turns into a 7 on 7 drill, which is what it was. I liked that teams did onside kicks and went for it on 4th down all the time, but this is ridiculous. I would rather them just have skills competitions and leave it at that. If they’re concerned with getting injured, then lets not even play the game because guys can still get injured. Some people played hard(probably their first time), others not so much. I can understand JA taking it easy because there’s no reason to start embarassing OTs and destroying QBs. If I cant tune into to see our pride and joy do what he usually does, then please, NFL, don’t even attempt to humor me with this game. Its about showcasing talent for ALL positions, but its turned into showcasing QBs throwing deep and WRs outjumping DBs who have given up on the play because they don’t care. It never used to be THIS bad, but now the players are truly looking at it without ANY competitive spirit and this is what football looks like when no one cares who wins.
