Alum Watch: Mike Tice
I just want to give a quick shout-out here to former Vikings head coach Mike Tice (an offensive line coach for the Chicago Bears this season):
It was announced the other day that Tice will become the offensive coordinator of the Bears, taking over for Mike Martz. I'm guessing that the Bears wanted to dumb-down the offense just a bit after the fiasco of losing Cutler this year and being utterly unable to compete in Martz's terminology-heavy system.
I always liked/supported Tice when he was here and never felt he really got a fair shake with this organization. He struck me as a down-to-earth, "everyman" type of coach (or the mirror opposite of, say, a Brad Childress), and I could always respect a guy like that (even when he did pull stunts like running wind sprints and pulling up lame!).
So, congrats to you, Mr. Tice, on your promotion and I look forward to our Vikings bludgeoning Jay Cutler in 2012 (and isn't that just a pleasant image for the off-season?!).

They wanted to implement the "Roy Williams Ratio"
Every third play, throw it to Roy and let him go get it

Funny.
I think the “Roy Williams Ratio” is likely to be undermined by his penchant for drops. If we combine the well known Randy Ratio with the somewhat less well known Berrian Ratio (i.e. 1 catch for every 2 drops), I think we can expect that Chicago will end up at the bottom of the division next year.
Please note that the Berrian Ratio should not to be confused with the Bernard Fraction (i.e. 1 catch for every 45 routes run).

Ha!
What worries me, though, is the Rudolph and Kleinsasser and Shiancoe and Harvin ratio.
Meaning, we rarely throw it to our TE’s and rarely throw it to Harvin downfield (I’m not even sure we threw downfield even once in our last 4 games) and seem to prefer Aro and dumps to occasional backs…
