Vikings At Redskins: Third Quarter Open Thread

It has truly been a tale of two quarters at FedEx Field, as the Minnesota Vikings go into the locker room at halftime trailing the Washington Redskins by a score of 17-9.

Minnesota was dominant on both sides of the ball in the first half, as they drove the ball at will against the Washington defense. . .until they got into the red zone, where the offense bogged down and was forced to settle for three Blair Walsh field goals. But the defense was strong in the first quarter, and the Redskins couldn't generate much on the offensive end themselves.

That all changed when the second quarter came around.

Washington has scored the last 17 points, as the defense is having trouble covering receivers (and stopping Alfred Morris in the run game), Washington has two touchdowns, the first coming after an 11-play, 90-yard drive that ended in a 1-yard run by Morris. Then, after a play that was ruled a fumble by Christian Ponder, Robert Griffin III found Dorrell Young for a 6-yard scoring pass, and that's where we stand at the present time.

Yardage is fairly even at this point, with the Redskins having 161 yards of offense to Minnesota's 157. Each team has also turned the football over once. The difference has been that, when the Redskins are getting into the red zone, they're scoring touchdowns, while the Vikings have been settling for field goals.

Minnesota is still only down one score at this point, but after the way the second quarter went, the momentum has seriously shifted towards the home team. Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin have both been banged up at various points in this game, but neither has missed an extended amount of time.

We're getting ready to kick off the third quarter at FedEx Field. Can the Vikings come back and get their fourth consecutive victory? Keep it right here to find out.
