Once again, the ground rules for the Game Threads:
-Thou shalt not promote illegal feeds of today's game, or I shall kick thy arse to the curb until the game is over. Thou hast been warned.
-Thou shalt make an attempt to keep the swearing to a minimum. Understandable that it will slip occasionally, but do try to limit it.
-Thou shalt not feed the trolls. Rather, thou shall simply point them out, and they shall be banished to the fires of Mordor. Or Wisconsin. Whichever we feel is more harsh at the time.
-Thou shalt not engage in racist, sexist, or other such insulting rhetoric. Somebody disagreeing with you does not make them racist or sexist. It means they disagree with you. Talk it out like adults.
-Thou shalt not bait the fans of other teams into trolling.
-Basically, thou shalt not be a jackwagon in the game thread.
This is the last game before the Minnesota Vikings hit their bye week, and if they wish to continue the competitive portion of this season, they pretty much have to pull this one out against their division rivals, the Detroit Lions. The Vikings defeated the Lions the last time these two teams played, 20-13 back in Week 4, and did so without scoring an offensive touchdown. The teams have gone in opposite directions since then, with the Vikings going 2-3 since that match-up and the Lions going 3-1.
It's going to be pretty tough sledding for Minnesota in this one, as they're going to be without all-everything playmaker Percy Harvin. The Minnesota passing offense, under the direction of quarterback Christian Ponder, has been struggling of late with Harvin in the lineup. It's going to be interesting. . .or scary. . .to see what happens this afternoon without him.
If the Vikings can pull out this victory, not only would it give them a sweep of a team that they used to own, it would keep them out of the basement of the NFC North and give them some momentum going into what appears to be a brutal last six games of their schedule. I don't know what's telling me to have faith that the team can get it done today, but something is. Hopefully I'll end up being right on this one. Things are always a little more enjoyable when the Vikings win.
