Vikings At Seahawks: Third Quarter Open Thread

The Vikings had a nice drive that spanned the first and second quarters, featuring a few nice completions by Christian Ponder and a big pass interference penalty on Marcus Trufant attempting to cover Percy Harvin. The drive concluded with Adrian Peterson's second touchdown run of the day, and the game was tied at 14.

Peterson has been the story for the Vikings in this one so far. He has 144 rushing yards on just 12 carries, and the Seahawks haven't come up with an answer for him yet. For Peterson, this is the 31st time as a member of the Vikings that he has rushed for 100 yards or more, which extends his team record in that category. It's also the 12th time that Peterson has rushed for at least 100 yards in a half. For comparison's sake, Robert Smith is second in Vikings' history in that category.

He did it twice.

After a 36-yard field goal by Blair Walsh gave the Vikings a lead at 17-14, the Seahawks moved the ball down the field again, and after it appeared that the Vikings had stopped Russell Wilson on a fourth down quarterback sneak, Wilson found Golden Tate for the second time this afternoon for a touchdown to make the score 20-17. . .and that's how the score stayed after Kevin Williams blocked the extra point attempt.

The Vikings ran a really weird drive at the end of the half, ending with a short pass to Michael Jenkins. Jenkins attempted to get out of bounds and could not, and the clock ran out for the half. Seattle will get the ball coming out of the locker room.

It's a close one in Seattle so far. . .the Vikings really need to have their defense step up in the second half, and they absolutely have to get something out of the passing game to supplement what Adrian Peterson has done so far.
