Vikings At Texans: Fourth Quarter Open Thread

Scott Halleran

The Minnesota Vikings still hold the lead as we move to the fourth quarter of play at Reliant Stadium, as they hold a 16-3 advantage over the Houston Texans.

The Vikings scored on their first possession of the half, adding another field goal from Blair Walsh, this one from 39 yards out. The drive was extended by a nice pass from Christian Ponder to Jarius Wright that got 15 yards added to it thanks to a late hit on Ponder.

Ponder had a bad turnover where he got sacked by J.J. Watt and fumbled the football with the Texans recovering. However, the Vikings' defense forced another bad series from the Houston offense, and kept the score at 16-3.

The Texans finally got the offense going towards the end of the quarter, as they pushed all the way down to the Minnesota 1-yard line. But, on third-and-goal from the one, the Vikings got a HUGE sack from breakdance king Fred Evans to push the Texans back 14 yards. The Texans had to settle for a 33-yard Shayne Graham field goal, his second of the day, to cut the gap to 16-6.

Your Adrian Peterson update looks like this. . .77 yards on 19 carries, putting him at 1,889 for the season. That means he's 111 away from 2,000 and 217 away from Eric Dickerson's record. Looks like we're going to be waiting until next week to see either of those marks achieved. Credit to the Texans for doing a whale of a job thus far against the NFL's best running back.

Fifteen minutes of football left in this one, folks, with the Vikings holding a ten-point lead over the consensus best team in the AFC. Can they hold on? Let's find out, shall we?
