Looks like it's official-ish! We'll have at the bare minimum 1 more year of Minnesota Vikings football.
If the Vikings plan to move from Minnesota in 2012, they must submit notice of their intentions by February 15. February 15 lands on Wednesday.
Vikings V.P. Lester Bagley said Tuesday that the team won’t be advising the league of any desire to move on Wednesday.
Specifically, Bagley told the Associated Pressthat “there’s no point” in filing the paperwork because the team has momentum toward building a new stadium in Minnesota. (We’d hate to see how slowly the process would be going if the Vikings didn’t have momentum.)
It means that the Vikings will be playing in Minnesota for at least one more year, at the Metrodome. It also means that, if the politicians decide to avoid a locally unpopular measure during an election year, they can punt on the project until after the polling places close in November.
